Would you turn your rear rotors at 75K?

If someone has the wiring diagram for the exhaust brake switch for a 2007 (Dash switch) if would be greatly appreciated. As far as the pig tail harness goes. you should be able to solder up one to work once we have the wiring diagram.

Thanks

well I tried to download the pinout for you but for some reason the pictures are not loading even though I can get all the way down to the switch itself I will try again tomorow for you, found a bunch of other interesting stuff though in the pinouts like the upfitters PDC, Traction control and some many other interesting things most of which I assume are for the 1/2 tons but interesting

I wanted to install the 2007 switch into my 2006 mega. THe dealer tried and could not make it work. They claimed that there are major wiring upgrades on the 2007 that was not installed on the 2006. that is why you get the gear shift lever control with 2006 brake. I had my dealer install an after market switch into the bezel. I think it still looks better that the shift lever button. Apparently, the 2007 operates the switch on 6 volts which then activates a relay to turn on the exhaust brake. The 2006 wiring is all 12 volt so the 07 switch will not work. I have mine insalled and love it, best of all, I had a 15% off all accesories coupon. So I got off around 1500 installed.

JSzewczyk :

Can you share a picture and any info possible? Did your dealer share with you how they wired in the switch? I wonder if the factory dash switch could be used if one wired the contacts directly from the Jake switch wires.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a keen interest in this mod.

MCrossley:

Were you ever able to download the connector/switch pinout? I'd certainly be willing to try accessing them myself if I knew where to start.

I'd be interested as well. I can order the switch and bezel next week, for about $22 for both. I'm going to give it a shot, but a pin-out diagram sure would help! --Eric

sorry guys been in the middle of planning a move to washington and trying to get things in order. I have been having a problem pulling the schematics up but will take the time to try again today the reason you cannot just use the switch is they are a multiplexed low voltage "trigger" switch that tells the IPM to turn on or off the exhaust brake circuit; there is no reason why you cannot make it work with a relay but we need the diagram I will let you know.

Here are pins out cannot get picture of connector to copy in.

From my understanding if you are installing on an '06 truck do not waste your money on the switch. It is a 6 volt switch and the 06s wiring is 12 volt. The switch will not work. If I was any good with pictures I would try to post what I have but. .

Does the switch just provide a ground (like my Pacbrake) or does it actually control the 12v supply to the brake?

If it hooks up the same as the Pac then it will work just fine.

If it actually controls 12v then use it to turn on a 12v relay that in turn applies the 12 volts. This switch will have no problem supplying 12 volts to a relay even if it were only used for 6 volts in it's normal application.

Within reason, it's the current that will fry the switch not the voltage - the relay pulls no appreciable current.

Dash Switch

I have heard from good sources that a new rocker switch that is made to be dash mounted for 03 thru 06 model trucks for exhaust brake will be released for sale. Sorry I have no other information on this. :)

I ordered the switch and bezel and previously ordered the exhaust brake. MY truck is an 07, does anybody know it the plug is already there behind the dash for the brake to make it plug and play? I am still waiting on the switch to come in, but the brake is already physically installed but not wired up yet. This will work right?

Tx,

Wow! What a popular thread.

I thought this would be a good thread but it's gotten more play than I thought. Thanks to kshimizu for his initial post and to all the others who posted or sent me PM and e-mails.

I've ordered the switch and bezel and definitely plan to make it work on my 2006, even if I have to dismantle the switch and rebuild it from the shell out. I should have some results in about 2 weeks or so, after I get the ordered parts.

I still need a diagram that shows the '07 switch function, similar to what I gleaned of the Jake stalk switch from page 26 from the installation manual. I'm uploading that here to save someone else the trouble of doing so themselves.

Thanks again to all.

Is your truck a 5. 9 or 6. 7? If it is a 5. 9 it was never set up for the in dash brake switch. Only the 6. 7 was set up to run the dash switch and the wiring is not there. That is the hold up from Mopar, they are trying to get the wiring harness set up for the install.

I purchased and recieved the switch and bezel, and was told by the parts guy that the 07 6. 7 has the plug pre wired in, and it can not be ordered as a separate piece. However he was willing to show me the schematic for the pins and which one was which, I declined and was planning on returning the switch. However, if anyone would like to get the schematic, Larry from Autoworld in Petaluma, CA is a great guy and would be willing to fax the printout or help to determine which pin is which.

The truck is a 5. 9, but I ordered the switch anyway. I am going to try to wire it up and test as I really like the look of the factory switch as opposed to the colum shift. I hope to have the part by this weekend and have it installed by next weekend. If it works, I will draw out the wiring/adaptors necessary for the install (Unless somebody beats me to it - Hopefully :) )

Here are the diagrams of what is inside the switch and the pin out again.

It is interesting that there is a resistor in line with the switch on pins 3-4 - wonder what that is for? I assume that the relay works off the 12v from the battery and the switch simply completes the circuit or does it complete the circuit to the ECM, which in turn fires the relay? What is pin 2 for then?

Rob

On the switch pin 3 is fed with switch return from the ECU while pin 4 is the exhaust brake swtich signal input on the ECU. Pin 5 is the exhaust brake lamp signal from the ECU. Pin 2 is panel lamps driver feed from the instrument cluster.
