My father-in-law bought a 2008 that had been wrecked and put it back together and has been driving and all seems well, but has had some AC issues that has led some local mechanics to tell him his fan clutch is out. Is there a way to verify that it is no codes have shown any issues with it.
Here is what led them to this conclusion. The truck had to have condenser replaced due to wreck. Thus also had a system recharge. Then the compressor crapped out, so it got new compressor and dryer and system flush again. Now the mechanic is saying fan clutch is bad cause the head pressure gets too high. If they place a shop fan in front of the condenser it doesn't get to high. AC blows cold going up and down the road, temp on the truck stay right at 200 all the time. Driving empty or loaded highway or town no difference.
Hate to drop money on a fan clutch if it isn't bad, but also don't want to ruin the compressor again either.
