Went for a ride today

Hunters-1 Tree Huggers-0

That is a good question Grizzly. A few of us were wondering if accidents like this is why they (GM) no longer use the slogan "like a rock" anymore.

Do I only see the passenger side deployed... and not the drivers side air bag... .

And is that a fish and feathers guy... or a Sheriff deputy...

Time for some CSI investigation.

That carcass is in way to good of shape and far too ideally "photo positioned" for events to have happened as implied.

Not to mention truck hood appears to have no or very little damage.

I believe it looks realistic. It appears that the ram may have had it's neck broke by the Chevy bumper and not the hood. I'm puzzled by just one air bag getting deployed and not the drivers.

I'm sure a Ford Tough, furd would have surveyed the impact much better.

With photo editing, imagine brushing out the vehicle and inserting a hunter in classical "on one knee" position behind animal, right arm looped thru animals left horn and holding head up, left hand supporting rifle stock which is planted verticle to the ground.

Trophy animal now fits trophy picture pose.

Moreover, look at the animals front legs, they're pointed slightly forward and animal is sitting perfectly on its elbows.

Certainly no vehilce dragging damage or final position credibility.

True "road kill" final position and condition of carcass is not what this is.

Vehicle damage is more in line with plugging fire hydrant, short guard rail post, stump, ect... ,

One head light & turn signal fixture displaced but lenses not broken and no visible hood damage.

There's also a lot of vehicle front end grill parts entirely missing from what should be a littered road.

Probably internet files with tens of thousands of vehicle damage pics to chose from.

Can't argue it's a great "urban legion" type picture.

How importand is all of this?

Not one bit.

It's 1:30 AM, with this pic and few more beers into that "hottie" sitting next to you at the bar and you're good to go.

I wonder if these are going to make it into one of Howie Long's Chevy commercials? Speaking of which, I saw 3 fairly new ones on Sunday during the NFL playoff game between San Diego and Pittsburgh. I say fairly new because it was the first I've seen them and I don't watch a lot of network TV. I especially liked the one where he rags on Mikey Rowe's Fords with their "man steps" in the tailgate. I about fell out of my chair laughing at that one! They did do one where they rag on Dodge too. It opens up with Howie in his Chevy and some guy is parallel parking a Ram and taps Howie's Chevy. Howie comes up to driver's window and the guy apologizes but Howie makes fun of his heated steering wheel and manicure. However, if you'll notice closely that after the Dodge taps Howie's Chevy, the rest of the commercial is shot from looking through the cab of the Dodge. That's because they didn't want you to see the Chevy sitting there in pieces after being hit by a Ram. Kind of like CookJ's pictures!! :D

I guess if you can chalk this up to "photo editing", someone did a heck of job imaging the officer and carcass reflection in the bumper. Just glad it wasn't my truck!

The photo is real. It happened on I-90 just east of Missoula, MT where Rock Creek dumps into the Clark Fork. I have seen the same pics in a couple sporting goods stores around here.

I received this from a buddy of mine who is a parts manager at a Ford dealership near Dallas. According to him, this type of damage would never have occurred to a Superduty. (I just laughed)

I'd agree with your Parts Manager buddy... ... all the SuperPoopys are in the shop for repairs, off the roads and highways... ... . :-laf

I used to travel to Montana alot. And even though it would drop my fuel mileage abit,I always mounted my brushguard. During the Summer and into Fall, with all the fields loaded with hay and alfpha the dear were in the thousands. Really was nerve racking to look off into the fields and see dozen's. That Bighorn looks to be in the Casade's area. As far as that airbag goes he probably cut it off with a knife.

Then why did Bob Turner Furd Dealer in Albuquerque convince my brother-in-law to install a heavy brush guard to his 08 Supper Duty with a PowerJoke. He was told anything he hits would collapse the weak bumper and grill and do serious damage to the radiator(s).

Ok, I aggree the call-out made re photo editing most likely not being able to image the bumper reflections and can also accept another call-out claiming photo is authentic.

However, is this how truck and animal would look immediately after a real life Meet & Greet?

It isn't.

It's a posed scene.

Plus it's getting posted at dealerships, sporting goods stores, internet forums, generating much discussion, which achieves every aspect of it's original purpose.

Probably good for business all 'round... ,
