2012 Option Packages ??

My brother has been thinking pretty serious about getting rid of his problem child Ford 6. 0 truck and getting a Dodge. He drove my 09 truck and was impressed.

Last evening he gave me several print-offs of trucks with the Laramie Package and one Longhorn Laramie Package and asked me to study them a bit. He is considering a 2500 or 3500 (SRW). I suggested he look at the 3500 because he tows a trailer with loads up to 12k (bumper pull trailer with farm tractor) at times.

Hopefully you guys can give us some insight.



1. What is a dual transmission cooler?



2. Do 2500's come with a transmission cooler?



3. What is the difference in the 2FH and the 2FK packages? Is there a list of these packages explained somewhere?



4. What is included in a heavy duty snow plow prep package?



5. What are low back bucket seats? Are there different bucket seats?



6. Axle ratio - Is there a mileage penalty with 4. 10 vs. 3. 73 gears



7. Some packages include "electronic shift on the fly transfer case". Is this a rotary dial or lever for the 4wd?



8. Why do some dealers charge different prices for the 68 RFE auto transmission? Is this a regional thing?



9. Is there a ride difference between the 2500 and 3500?



10. Did the integrated brake controller get upgraded with the 2011 or 2012 year?

the trailer brake controller did get a major upgrade for 2012 now capable of EOH



2FH is a Laramie with a 68RFE



2FK is a Laramie Long Horn with a 68RFE



Snowplow prep includes 180 Amp Alternator, Transfer Case Skid Plate and a Different Part Number Front Spring (Weight Rating difference hasnt been published that i can find)



Yes, Electric Shfit transfer case is the dial, Standard on everything SLt 2_G Package up



Only one bucket seat



all Ram Pickups have a transmission cooler, the dual coolers are available as a standand alone option or included in the MAX Tow package (with 4. 10 and the cool Finned Rear Diff Cover)



mileage difference between 4. 10 and 3. 73 is going to vary due to terrain and useage, just like anything else
