Okay, So last week I took my truck with 3400 miles on the dash to the dealer for an oil change and TPMS drivers side front failed sensor. Sounds simple enough right. I was told the truck was finished but they had to order a new sensor. Took the truck back yesterday to have the TPMS sensor replaced. I figured it would be a 1 hour deal to break the tire down and replace the sensor. 2 hours later I went to find out why my truck wasn't done yet. The service adviser tells me that they are replacing the electronic comms hub and not the TPMS sensor in the wheel. I was a bit supprised and ticked off that I was misled by the service adviser. They ended up giving my truck back to me 2 hours later. I start my 45 minute drive home and I get half way home when I decide to look at my tire pressures. They aren't there! Called the dealer and turned around. Waited another 1.5 hours before going to the service adviser and telling him he better put me in a loaner so I could pick my kids up. This ended up being an all day deal waiting at the dealer.

The issue seems to boil down to the comms hub. They have to program the VIN, the Keys and the TPMS sensors into this hub. However, the hub that is in the truck now will only allow them to program 4 TPMS sensors. My truck has 6. Ram has yet to respond to my dealer on a solution so my truck sits at the dealer.

Has anyone dealt with this yet?

There was a thread on here not long ago dealing with a number of issues with a new truck, one of which being the TPMS system. I belive it was called Love/Hate new truck or something similar. I don't recall the specifics however.

I need to go back to the dealer to replace the PS hose, and they are also planning to replace the "RF Hub" due to a hidden error code they discovered.
I was told it was in the dash. Best I could discover is that it's for the FOB, TPMS etc. I hope they are smart enough to have ordered the correct one
as I really dislike the sitting/waiting game at the service dept. Good luck with yours.

Plan on leaving it with the dealer if its the first one they have done otherwise you'll be there all day like I was. My dealer had to update all their software so they could talk to my truck with their laptop. That took awhile. Then they had the learning curve of trying to figure out what needed to be programmed into the truck.

They did give me a free oil change for my hassle. Its something and I appreciate the token of goodwill.

After all they did with the RF Hub they finally replaced the TPMS sensor today and I took it home so I could get some fire wood tomorrow. I had the full intention of taking the truck back on Monday. When I left the dealership the sensors read ---, after I got home 45 minutes later and went out to hook my dump trailer back up all six tires are now registering the pressure.

I am in the same boat. My truck arrived at my dealer with Nexen china tires when was suppose to have Generals. They then swapped generals onto my truck but the hourly oil changer they let do it ruined my Alcoa wheels. Then had to return for another swap with 4 good Alcoa's off a stock unit 14 Larime.

I go to pick it up and my display shows driver front sensor not reading and the passenger front and outer rear reading 30psi. All tires had 70. After driving my Evic says "service tire system" and NO sensors are
Reading. Service manager said they are clueless and this is a first. Called STAR to open a case. Star tells them to order a unit but on back order and not eta. Who knows how long I will be without TPMS.

Mine also was only reading 4 sensors and not 6. This occurred with less then 200 miles on my truck.

I was the one on the other thread named Love/Hate. I did post our results there but long story short, 3 dealerships, 2 rental cars and hours and hours of wasted time while they blamed it on everything they could--even us!, they finally decided to order 6 new sensors. It took another whole day for them to install them but so far they are reading correctly. I'm not convinced that they will last but we can at least get back on the road. Any dealership that sez this is a 1st is just lying. Our last dealership had to actually get the Chrysler techs on the phone to have them order a "tool" that was hooked to the truck to see that NO sensors were reading in the tires. Very disappointing. Good luck in getting fixed. Hugs, Di

All this crap for tire pressure on a dually? Is the tire pressure thing federal law now even for a dually? Ugh!

I am going to check my tires like I always did with my 04.5. Yes TPS's are convenient but NOT if you are going to start throwing parts at my brand new truck.

I think I will wait for this issue to be "worked out" with Chrysler and then take care of it at a later time.

Where Do these "units, comm Hubs" go? I assume under the dash? How much of the interior will be removed to remove and install??!!

Just a follow up to my previous post, and of course they ordered the wrong one so now I have to go back for the fourth time now.
