And that has put RAM in first place in sells???? SNOKING

I didn't say that. I don't know if Ram is first place in sales. And I don’t know if that marketing tool works.

But it is a marketing tool that almost every vehicle manufacturer (except high end) uses.

Time to get back to Earth, the three choices for the Ram are in order, IMHO.... (1)Aisin, but only available in 3500's (2) 68rfe, 2nd choice only because it's got to be better if coupled to 3:73/4:10 rear diff's (3) G56, unfortunately the DMF, Aluminum case, ATF auto transmission fluid puts it on the bottom, but I would get it if I could do it over, the 68rfe now that I've driven one for 15K with 3:42 sucks. I'm forced to manually shift it, to keep the Cummins in the right RPM and gear to maintain decent MPG. I'm hearing it from my company who purchased it on my recommendation.

Really?.... Sticks have their advantages for sure. No maintenance, . But pulling a 15000 lb 5th wheel on the 5 outside of dodger stadium for 45 minutes gets old real fast. Had a 69 gto turbo 400.... Nothing touched it. Hoping the aiding is a good trans...

I know too well about the I-5 @ Dodger stadium, but it's the pot holes I hate more. All through the LA area is the same as well, I now avoid LA with my 5ver in tow, I'm tired of finding all of my stuff on the floor. Stop and go with a manual is a lot of work, even without a load for that matter. I've gone through several NASCAR tracks as well as Dodgers & Angels Stadium in my 04.5 2500 in sig. But if the NV5600 was still an option, I'd buy one in a heart beat. :D

I hate to admit but my hopes of finding a 2015-16 manual Bighorn is quickly dying. There's a few out there but they are far away and the weather isn't helping them get any closer. I also want a few other options and I haven't been able to get everything together in one truck so far. There might be an Aisin in my future :(

My 1991 was a stick, driven for ten years......, my 2001 six speed driven for 15 years. Time spent regretting buying as Aisin.......ZERO...ZIP...NADA!!!!!

Stop and go traffic on I-5 and I-205 during rush hour traffic kept putting a charlie horse in my left thigh. Too many of those and I had no problem making the choice to go with the Aisin.

Can't argue with that. We used to drive into Mexico (before the weekly beheadings). Coming back into the US would take 2+ hours sometimes....clutch in, clutch out, clutch in, clutch out........

In my house there are 5 of 6 vehicles with a clutch, the RAM, S-10, Harley, riding mower, and the self propelled mower. Get in the wife's car and it has a shifter on the floor but no 3rd pedal. Think they call that, lets see if I can find the word, it has slipped my mind, oh wait I think its called a au-to-mat-ic, not sure I can pronounce it correctly and now that's what ya call getting lazy. Yeah I want a new 3500 loaded to the gills with everything. But what will probably help me get a new one is when (I HOPE) it goes to 400/1000, now that there my friends could be the ticket I am looking for. I retire in a little over 2 years, so maybe it will happen then.

I borrowed a 3rd gen to take our old couch to Goodwill and pick up a new one at a furniture store. It was a 2x4 dually with NV5600 and 4:10 gears and I am sure would pull over a house. I had no trouble shifting it, started in 2nd and then 4th, 5th and 6th. Drove it on both freeway and local roads. People behind me on the local roads seemed very impatient leaving stop lights as I got it rolling and up to speed. So my opinion of not wanting a manual have not changed over the years. Snoking

I'm amazed at how my Aisin brings me almost the same satisfaction as a manual. When in tow/haul mode, and full exhaust brake, it feels second nature and how I would downshift a manual. I couldn't be happier with it. Now if I could get my truck with the same power output, and a stick, I'd still go with a stick... but the gap is really really close. The main issue is holding power, and how stiff the clutch is. I do believe this could be somewhat compensated for by power management. Only supply the full 900 ft/lbs above the first couple gears and say 1,500 RPM. A granny gear can get any legal size load moving without clutch slippage even if the engine was drastically derated when in that gear.

Shift faster

Shift faster

Unless I drive overly aggressive my NV5600/3.73 truck is almost always the slowest off the line. I just don't like to get on it that hard in lower gears, there is no need especially with the short 2/3/4 legs.

I always get angry looks while towing from other people towing, generally 1/2 tons, at a stoplight but in a few miles they look in bewilderment as I scream by them on the grades at 10-20 mph faster and a LOT more weight... it's kinda fun.

Agreed! The story ends with me smiling and them scratching their heads as I pass them.

Starting in 2nd with my 3.42's, it takes all of 2 seconds to get to 15-18 mph.

if I were carrying a load in the bed, I would take not do that for fear of dumping it on the road.

I usually am not in a hurry to get to work or anywhere else for that matter. So they (those behind me) can get all worked up about nothing if they want.

Confused?? Are you not in a hurry or doing 0-18 in 2 seconds?

I usually don't even start out in second. But i have a few times. I am usually not in a hurry.
But i have tested the acceleration out of curiosity. Just like when someone posted a picture of their 120 mph speedometer on here.... i don't think that TDR member always drives at 100+ mph
