Better stop and get it looked at. Not many of us can come rescue your trailer.

Probably happened getting on I-5 N at 92 mph after pizza when it was new. Snoking

Be sure and let us know what you find. This doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy, although I haven't experienced any problems at all to date.*

I will! I will be to our home base this coming weekend. I will have right at 24K at that time. Towing a lot that is the change interval.

Buy your lube at the local Mopar place....... Or better yet, have them open the differential. If they see the problem, it may save you getting stranded, because they will be forced to cover it under warranty.

A little experimenting here. Hooked up RV yesterday cranked wheel left then took off with RV attached smooth as silk. Truck was cold stopped turned right then took off smooth as silk. Also the day before just driving around solo no problems. So this only happens with the truck loaded with RV and up to operating temp or just after unhooking the truck will have symptoms but not nearly as bad as with the load on.

So..I am still having problems with the rear end rumble on take off with my truck..Dealer has lowered the carrier bearing in order to improve the drive line angle..now it seems that this issue is getting worse..the rear end rumbles on take off when I'm pulling my trailer..when it warms up it rumbles worse..also feels like its more pronounced in turns..at the dealer now and they are taking the rear end cover off and looking to see if anything is wrong there..next step is to get another truck and see if it does the same thing..problem with that is this truck is kind of rare..its got the air bag suspension with the 4:10 rear..I'm wondering if anybody else is having this issue with their truck and this combination??:{:{
So what is the verdict on your rear diff? My 2014 2500 3:42 rear diff was shot after only 14K miles, and the whole axle with housing had to be replaced. The truck is no longer in my signature, because I quit the company that owned it, two months ago.

Found out Saturday, there is a new bulletin that address this complaint, replace rear pop shaft.

I have a couple of questions on this one:

1. I'm assuming you mean the rear PROP shaft (propeller shaft or driveshaft).

2. If so, I'm at a loss to understand how the rear driveshaft would know whether the truck is turning or going in a straight line. What conditions change when turning, insofar as the torque or speed of the rear driveshaft is concerned, that would make it rumble when turning but not when traveling in a straight line?

Color me puzzled on this one....

my 03 would "pop" as it went around slow turns when hot and loaded, I replaced the rear end lube with Amsoil and it does not do it anymore

I will try to get my fluid changed in a few days and report back if there is any unusual metal. I will replace with AMZ/OIL Severe duty 75/110. I will also save the gear lube for testing if needed.

how did it go?:)

I did the rear diff change a couple days ago. I sent a sample to Blackstone, waiting on results.

I can tell you I have never seen GL come out this dark in 24K! There was virtually no wear metals, the ring gear teeth were polished in appearance. My 11 HO towing WAY more miles and at least 50K on it when I changed at 65K came out golden brown and there were still machining marks on the teeth. I ran AMZ/OIL 75/110 in the 11 and that is what I just put in the rear and front of the 15.

The inside bottom of the diff housing was spotless.

Here are a few pics. I will post Blackstone results when I receive them.

Here are the results. For sure needed to be changed! This was the first change at 24,400 miles. I have over 8K towing a 23K 5th wheel.

Will be interesting to see if the grabbing is gone with the new lube.

My Son will be changing his 3500 SRW this coming weekend with 30K on the clock. Will be interesting to see what his lube and cover look like.

FWIW - My father-in-law had about 200K on a 92 truck. After 50K miles on the rear diff oil I changed it and it was very dark and burnt smelling. I put that oil in there. Used regular 75-140 oil. Traced it to some num-nuts put the floating axle bearings on too tight. Caused all the heat. He only towed about 8K with it. The drivers side was tighter than the pass. It took more torque to turn than the pass side (with axle shaft removed).

Maybe that might be of some help?!?

For engine oil, yes. Axle/gear oil is different - According to my 6 day old manual for a 2016 it is 20K. Not sure on his truck.

My 04.5 and 07 CTD's AA are 15K, but it is overkill. It's been @45K since the last change on my 07. I guess I'll be doing that real soon as well as the transfer case.
