I picked up my CTSII after talking to Edge last week and the told me that they supported 2016 Ram CTD. Turns out after installing it and the talking to Edge they don't. #@$%!#@$%! Does anyone have one in a 2016 I was hoping to monitor egt and such when pulling my trailer.

Thanks in advance.

Well I fubard that up. That just goes to show you how mad I was. Edge cts II going back. I thought about holding on to it until they supported model year 2016. I could not get the fusion software to give me a password so I could update the stupid thing. I don't know what I will do for a monitoring system now. Anybody got any ideas?

Have one installed

I have an Edge Insight CTS2 installed on my truck. Works very well and is augmenting my understanding of how this thing is cobbled together. There are many parameters you can monitor and you can customize the screen to what you want. I am watching three EGTs, DPF pressure drop and status, EGR, VGT actuator position, torque converter lock up status, and Turbo speed at the moment. It has been a great addition to my truck in that there is much available through the OBDII/CAN that is not available via the status screens on the truck.

I was able to update it via their software and installed it without any hitch on my 2016.

Gauges are not NEEDED as they once were. The trucks now will not hurt themselves! On a grade just hold it to the floor and enjoy the ride.

Alponse it works!!! Finally got the password so I could update it. I am going to give it a good test drive tomorrow everything looks like it is a go though.

Cummins12v98 I understand that the truck is not going to hurt itself. If you shut off to early though I will be hurting the turbo. Plus it is just cool!!!!

List of PIDs

Mike, good news. I am glad you gave it another spin.

Here is a list of the available PIDs that I put together to keep in the truck. Of course you get some of these already in the EVIC but there are many more available via the Insight CST2.

I pick and choose from this list when I want to tune the screen to a new data set. By the way, the thing will also data log and you can import several minutes of data into an excel spreadsheet. I haven't done it yet but it should be big fun to take a look at various behaviors compiled together. That is when redundant EVIC available data may become useful via the CST2 and its data logging capability.

I agree on the "COOL" part but I really like the fact my truck works great right out of the box without having to add anything. As far as cool down time just use common sense. I tow HEAVY so when pulling into a rest area or a truck stop I never turn the truck off.

It is nice that it all works!

I agree with you. Sure is nice that it all works.

But you are not really adding anything other than a monitor that accesses what is already there via a connector to the OBDII. I am betting you monitor your EVIC don't you? BTW, if you had a way to take a look at your EGT1 you'd know when to turn it off and save some idle time. :):)

I know I idle longer than needed but I always have my EB on so it keeps a load on the engine. I just love the fact that I can drop in a hitch/toolbox and hook up and tow my 23K MobileSuites without doing any aftermarket upgrades like we all used to do.

Agreed, no mods needed.

To share what I have observed in the data that I have been watching, I don't believe the exhaust brake being on has an effect when the truck is sitting in idle. The CTS2 allows you look at VGT Actuator Position and there is no impact to its position when you turn the exhaust brake on and off in idle.

It is helpful to have some data to look at.

I believe he means with the idle-up feature. Once you engage idle up with e-brake, you can hear it engage.

I mine idles on the exhaust brake when cold if it is turned on via the button. Not sure when warm? Sometimes I think it is on then also! SNOKING

They all use a higher VGT actuator position when you crank it up cold with or without the EB on. It helps warm up the engine via back pressure and retained heat. You can watch the VGT actuator position drop as the exhaust temperature rises. Part of the beauty of the VGT's complicated mission.

I also like how you can drive these trucks and not have to do a bunch a mods to make them go and stop. I recently sold a Ford F350 with a bunch of mods on it. It went fast stopped fast but it had electrical probs. The reason I got the edge product is I am so used to looking at guages when pulling it felt weird not to see what the egts were. So plug in play still stock and always will be.

Going from being a gauge watcher towing with our 2001.5 to the new 2015, I am enjoying watching the scenery on mountain passes.

Tinted the front door windows, added mud flaps, four OEM pucks, my old bed boxes, with a replacement backup camera in the rear V-Box and B&W manual slider hitch on Demco 6099 picture frame.

If I do anything else, it will be a Lockpick module and front grill camera!! Then maybe a hitch view camera. It is real hard to know where the front of the truck is when parking. It would be nice to have the front camera on up to 3 MPH. SNOKING
