I might be a bit late to the game on this one. Just found out about an issue with the ABS/HCU on the 2017 and 2018 2500 and 3500 trucks causing the brakes to malfunction. NHTSA action number PE22012. I've been having brake issues since the truck was new, been to the dealers, but got blown off. This issue describes my problem to a T. Does anyone know how to pursue this issue? I'm looking for some info before I contact the dealer again so hopefully I wont get blown off again. Thanks in advance for any advice on this issue!

It's in the preliminary investigation part, hence the PE in the number. I would contact the dealer with the reference number for them to forward info to the NHTSA on your behalf. There have been a 134 reports so far, so more added on will get the fire burning quicker. Print off the PDF's and take them into the dealer to see what they say then.

This is what I found on the NHTSA:

Summary

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 134 reports from consumers alleging an intermittent or permanent loss of braking performance in certain 2017-2018 Ram 2500-3500 pickup trucks. The alleged failures continue to occur at a steady rate across both models, at all speeds, with limited detectability. The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module works in conjunction with the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), an electromechanical device that controls hydraulic pressure to the individual wheel brake assemblies, to manage braking forces during emergency stops. Several reports indicate that the replacement of both ABS module and HCU appear to correct the alleged failures.

A preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency, and potential safety consequences of the alleged defect in the subject vehicle.
