Proud owner of new 2018 3500 Laramie dually. Went to dealer and asked about getting daylight headlights activated. They said they need special program from Ram to activate. Doesn't Canada require all vehicles to have headlights on all of the time, why not US? Has anyone else tried to get this done? Seams strange to me that all cars and light duty trucks have daylight head lights standard but not 1 tons. Seems like this should be standard on all trucks as safety item.

I put a small piece of electrical tape over the daylight sensor and leave my truck on auto. Lights come on as soon as truck starts, lights go off as soon as ignition is off. Cost me less than a penny's worth of electrical tape.

I just turn on my parking/fogs.

BTW, congrats on new truck and joining the TDR!!!

FYI "Cummings" is a place in Georgia. It's spelled "Cummins".

I got the information on how the dealer can program the lights to come on during the day. They are the yellow indicator lights in the assembly. So they shine bright yellow. I think I found the code sheet here some years ago. I have a '14.

I tried to get mine turned on at the dealer but they said since mine is a Tradesman the computer doesn't have the ability to have them turned on. The higher end trim just requires them to go in with their computer and turn them on, takes two minutes they said.

I have a 2018 tradesman 3500 with max tow package . Just the opposite problem . I didn't want day time running lights but they came with the package . Question is how do I disable them??

Got a call from my dealer (John Hirsch's Cambridge Motors) this morning that they received the update and to bring in my truck. I went in and within 15 minutes the job was completed. The paperwork said: Reprogramed daytime running lights, added to build configuration. Many of you might understand what the "Build Configuration" is but as stated in one of the above replies, the orange lights come on once you take the transmission out of Park. Glad to have another level of safety so other drivers can see me coming. Dealer did not charge me for this service. I hope this helps anyone looking to have is option added to their truck.

Funny - This should just be a software switch that get toggled on or off... In my '08 we had the dealer do that before we drove off the lot...H

spoon59, OK great idea, please share where the sensor is located please...And .

Try this. Almost center dash where dash meets windshield.

Daytime running lights are mandatory in Canada and have been since around 1990. I have a 2016 Ram 3500 and the daytime lights come once the truck is put in gear. The ligbts that come on are the white lights just under the headlights. Dont get me wrong this is a good law but it should turn on tail lights as well. The other problem is how many stupid people assume that this turns all lights on so not uncommon to sèe a car driving at night with headlights on and nothing else.

Hey, the Cherokee loaner they gave while doing the T-51 recall shut the motor off at every stop light while my foot was on the brake pedal. Try to turn the feature off, but could not find the correct method to do that. Found the screen that said it was enabled.

My stepfather's Cherokee has a button on the dash to disable the stop/start. Have to disable it Everytime you shut the vehicle off. It is a few years old now so that may have changed.

The black screw top off a 600ml Coke No Sugar bottle fits perfectly over the sensor with a little bit of double-sided tape and looks built-in. My truck thinks it’s been nighttime for almost 4 years now.

Then you have to manually adjust the dash lights brightness between drive during the day and night??? Might as well just turn the head lights on manually like we did for years?
