2018 3500 daylight head lights

I took off my tow hooks and put in some cheap but powerful LED lights and connected to the row of switches my truck came with (2017). The switch will stay on after ignition is cycled. Have to shut off at night as they are too bright.

My local dealer who I didn't buy the truck from wanted $50 to program the lights for DRL

CIf you are anywhere near Carson City, NV contact Carson Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM. They can do it in about an hour. I had them turn on the daytime running lights on my 2017. Thsy charged me $85.00. They are the only dealer I have founfd that knows how to do it. This isdone by adding DRLas a dealer installed option and then reconfiguring the vehicle. There are
several sales codesavailable for DRLdepending upon head lamp type and market. The appropriate sales
code should be added to the vehicle configuration as follows: The dealer should add the DRLoption to the vehicle using the VEHICLEOPTION UPDATESpage in
DEALERCONNECT. A link to the page can be found in the WARRANTYADMINISTRATION pane under the
SERVICEtab. Once the appropriate salescode has been added, the vehicle should be reconfigured using
the RESTOREVEHICLECONFIGURATION routine in WiTech. Thisroutine can be found under the
DIAGNOSTICPROCEDUREStab. After the vehicle has been reconfigured, a hard reset of the BCM should
be performed and all fault codes that may have been set during the process should be cleared.
DRLis not a selectable feature in the EVIC/Radio personalization menu but can be changed with WiTech
in the CUSTOMERPROGRAMABLEFEATUREmenu. DRLmust be turned on the CUSTOMER
PROGRAMABLEFEATUREmenu in order to make DRLoperate.
Please note that DRL’s will only illuminate when the engine is running, the vehicle is in gear and the park
brake is not set.

I guess I am the odd duck out because I do NOT like the daytime lights (DTL). When I am out in the hills fully "off-road" in broad daylight I do not want my lights on. I do not have the DTL feature on my '04 Ram, but I did have it on my '05 Chevy....fortunately (for me) the Chevy used bulbs other than the headlight bulbs, so I disabled the DTL in that rig by simply removing the guilty bulbs. My '02 Tacoma does have the DTL feature and I have not yet been able to figure out how to disable it.
I don't go off-road much with the '04 Ram, but both the '05 Silvy and the '02 Taco are set up to do pretty serious trails and it looks (IMO) rather "silly" to be running around in the hills in broad daylight with the lights on.

Of course....you need to be a little concerned sharing the road with people who need to see headlights on, during the day, so they will be aware a full sized, 9,000 lb. truck going down the road.......

There is so much safety garbage with everything in the US that the law of natural selection doesn't apply anymore. So you need those people to see some bright lights heading for their driver's door before they pull out in front of you. Even then its "I didn't see him coming"

I've not tested it but looks like the AutoEnginuity software can make the change(s). I know changing the Front Fog Lamp Dropout setting works so they're on with high beams.

Hey, the Cherokee loaner they gave while doing the T-51 recall shut the motor off at every stop light while my foot was on the brake pedal. Try to turn the feature off, but could not find the correct method to do that. Found the screen that said it was enabled.

Button on front of dash that disables this feature , but you have to do it Every time you start vehicle

Then you have to manually adjust the dash lights brightness between drive during the day and night??? Might as well just turn the head lights on manually like we did for years?

But this way they turn off automatically. After decades driving cars which do that, I’ve been spoiled, so I’m constantly at risk of leaving them on and flattening the battery. But yes, it is exhausting having to roll the rocker to brighten/dim the dash lights morning and evening ...

Unless it’s changed since my 2012, dealer can go into settings and change to Canada options or something like that. It’s been awhile since I had to go in and advise the service department on how to do it.

I had to do research and then instruct the dealer on how to turn them on my 2012. They can or at least could then by going in and changing settings to foreign or Canada if I remember correctly. Good luck.

I put a small piece of electrical tape over the daylight sensor and leave my truck on auto. Lights come on as soon as truck starts, lights go off as soon as ignition is off. Cost me less than a penny's worth of electrical tape.

Instead of going through all that why not just cover the sensor or use the switch on the left side of the dash.

Here in Texas having your lights on means nothing to people running red lights and stop signs. It has the opposite effect.

Same goes for parts of Arizona and California. Using your blinker to change lanes also has the opposite effect. People see your blinker and they speed up to not let you in. I think these safety/courtesy features started out with good intentions, but people have become numb to them.
