I received my new TDR issue 101 and in TRReview page 26 says no diesels are available in the 2019 RAM 1500 !! Is this really a fact and if so--- here comes Ford and Chevy strong in the 1/2 ton market!!

TDR issue 101 should have more properly said no no diesels are available in the 2019 Ram 1500 YET. 2020s are a long ways off. Also you can order a 2018 Gen 4 Ecodiesel.

Not sure what is up. I just bought 2018 eco diesel 2 months ago. 1085 miles so far.. happy with mileage. Dealer had 5 on lot.

I own a 2015 ecodiesel 80000 miles good milage any problems I've have rear brake caliper not releasing and did not like the turbo lag. Will tow a fishing (18 foot aluminum ) but does not pull my dump trailer well. I hear of engine failures at around 150000 miles. When the 2019 came out and the 3.0 eco diesel was not in the lineup I looked to make a change. I've got a 2018 6.7 on order it is made and somewhere Godfrey IL. and Mexico. My problem is trying to decide what oil to use shell T4 , Amsoil, Valvoline, or found one by FS Superx Gold ESP 15Wx40 . The FS oil is blended in Iowa by Growmark ? Have read John Martins articles and each time get more out of them. Wish John would write more. Looking at the drawing of the ford engine not nuts about twin turbos and the only thing I know about GM engine is it is an inline six. On the V6 engines lots of moving parts: the inline six easier to work on ? Ten speed transmission you should be in the right gear all the time . To be honest can't wait till the 6.7 rolls in. Had an 04 5.9 and it was the best I've owned. Any tips on the 6.7 shoot me a line Sfiedler. PS My wife didn't like the straight pipe on 04

We had two VM3.0 replaced last week, 1 at 45K Miles the other 73K miles, the QC at cento is beyond terrible, The ED cannot survive with current engine, I looked at current demand for SEPT 18 96 Engines, Aug was 62, Yes I now of owners with 300K+ the highest ED 470K miles, its simply a hero / zero build.

I cast My lots on New 4.0 FPT late 2019 early 2020.

Theirs a deadline (DEC 18) on the EPA case for 2014-16 , rumor has it FCA on the hook for the 104.000 COC violation's, Sorry 2017-18 owners are screwed.

FPTs smallest 6 Zylindet is the 6.7 , below they have only 4 Cylinders and that's not what customers want.
The 4 Cylinders are bullet proof, run almost for ever.

That's why FCA installs that VM Engine into Jeeps and Rams.

Rumor has it FPT is developing 4.0 Inline 6

I'm going to even speculate more, the New 4.0 will have power levels 280-325HP and bolt up to the New ZF 8 SPD and current 8HP70 and replace the 68RFE and be optional in the 2500.

Why would Fait spend $1.5B on new Plant without it being multi DPS, the current Warren plant cannot support the inline 6.
FCA is returning the 2500/3500 Back to USA this plant will be able to built ALL 3 sizes.

Ram will drop the GVW on the 2500 were it belongs, Way to many 2500s on the road pulling GVW beyond its ability. How many owners want the 2500 for pulling that 7500LBS and have to drop the extra $$$$ on the 6.7 Cummins? that's way more power then it needs to pull 7500+ and the 1500 will have the power to pull that 7000LBs it does not have now.

I'm with SFiedler My 1500 with 5.7 pulls way better that 6000LBS than My ED 3.0 does. My Summit pulls it better than the 3.0 1500.

That would be nice, but...

In which vehicles they could install an inline 6 - only the Rams engine bay seems to me big enough for it.
I can't think about another FCA vehicle that such an engine would fit.

Europe and N.America Brands combined.

They probably would keep the 3.0 in EUR, the Cento plant cannot handle both N/A & EUR anyways.

Thiers 181 3.0 on the pavement within 25 Miles of My location (Dealer Exchange) when I checked over 2 weeks ago their was 185. and We don't have 1 on the lot with over 150 Pickups. Dealers are stuck with these until FCA promotion changes.

I will share this form the 1100 page report that mysteriously showed up in My Mail box, Its against the forum rules to post this so I hope it does NOT get Me in trouble.

Why Buy the 17/18 Knowing this info, My guess is the tune to make the 17&18 COC will hasten failure rates.

No I don't think I am screwed at all, I am so happy with my 2017 EcoDiesel, nothing but smiles, zero issues, it does everything I want it to do very well

I would hope so, Report back in 5 years with 200K miles. Or When the DOJ drops the hammer on FCA, WAY to much risk IMO.

Sure I know of owners with 200K+ miles but many have had numerous problems. Turbo, ERG, Intakes melting, Fires, Head gasket failures, rotating mass failures, exchanger failure, Crank sensor failure that require the trans to be separated to change out, Glow plug problems, 10,000s service warnings (SET), oil leaks, coolant leaks, endless CEL triggered for No reason. I also Know owners error free gas other then Plugs and routine maintenance at that Mileage.

I'm shocked owners lowing the Bar so low on the ED 3.0 ranks, I give it my lowest ranking for modern day Diesel.

On the Other Hand RonD if your Happy that's what counts , I hope it stay's that way for years to come.

I have Higher Hopes for FCA to change, Because Ford and GM are goona crush them in sales if they stick with VM 3.0.

They sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!!!

Hmmmm the Titanic was unsinkable, Japan would never attack Pearl Harbor, The Maginot Line was not passable.
Putting faith into Sky is falling would be far stretch compared to the VM3.0 Pickups last breath. The VM3.0 R.I.P already in the Promaster.

it's hard to believe that the VM in the US is such a bad engine, over here on Europe we have that engine in the Jeep GC and ot is a real good motor, everyone recommends it to his best Friend.
Not a single black spot.

Maybe the Software is different...

Well in 5 years I will have maybe 50000 miles, at 200000 miles I will have sold it, mine is not driven every day, also it comes with 5 year power train coverage, and California 7 year on the emissions stuff, I have never owned anything past 8 years so I guess I don't count, it also gets 5000 miles services and a lot of very good care, I use it only for when I really need a truck, and also when traveling it gets towed behind my motorhome, I think it has a long pampered life ahead
