FPTs smallest 6 Zylindet is the 6.7 , below they have only 4 Cylinders and that's not what customers want.
The 4 Cylinders are bullet proof, run almost for ever.
That's why FCA installs that VM Engine into Jeeps and Rams.
No I don't think I am screwed at all, I am so happy with my 2017 EcoDiesel, nothing but smiles, zero issues, it does everything I want it to do very wellWe had two VM3.0 replaced last week, 1 at 45K Miles the other 73K miles, the QC at cento is beyond terrible, The ED cannot survive with current engine, I looked at current demand for SEPT 18 96 Engines, Aug was 62, Yes I now of owners with 300K+ the highest ED 470K miles, its simply a hero / zero build.
I cast My lots on New 4.0 FPT late 2019 early 2020.
Theirs a deadline (DEC 18) on the EPA case for 2014-16 , rumor has it FCA on the hook for the 104.000 COC violation's, Sorry 2017-18 owners are screwed.
They sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!!!
I would hope so, Report back in 5 years with 200K miles. Or When the DOJ drops the hammer on FCA, WAY to much risk IMO.
Sure I know of owners with 200K+ miles but many have had numerous problems. Turbo, ERG, Intakes melting, Fires, Head gasket failures, rotating mass failures, exchanger failure, Crank sensor failure that require the trans to be separated to change out, Glow plug problems, 10,000s service warnings (SET), oil leaks, coolant leaks, endless CEL triggered for No reason. I also Know owners error free gas other then Plugs and routine maintenance at that Mileage.
I'm shocked owners lowing the Bar so low on the ED 3.0 ranks, I give it my lowest ranking for modern day Diesel.
On the Other Hand RonD if your Happy that's what counts , I hope it stay's that way for years to come.
I have Higher Hopes for FCA to change, Because Ford and GM are goona crush them in sales if they stick with VM 3.0.
Well in 5 years I will have maybe 50000 miles, at 200000 miles I will have sold it, mine is not driven every day, also it comes with 5 year power train coverage, and California 7 year on the emissions stuff, I have never owned anything past 8 years so I guess I don't count, it also gets 5000 miles services and a lot of very good care, I use it only for when I really need a truck, and also when traveling it gets towed behind my motorhome, I think it has a long pampered life ahead
