2022 Limited parasitic draw

I have searched the forum and seen some posts related but not completely. I recently purchased a 2022 2500 limited with 7k miles. When I went to the dealer to pick it up battery was dead and wouldn’t start. I was going on vacation so told them to keep it for the week and look at it. They ended up replacing the batteries and said it was good. Picked it up on Wednesday and the button for the convex mirror adjustment was stuck on. Couldn’t adjust the larger side mirror. Whatever, I made a service appointment for after the new year. Yesterday was my first day driving it. -19 and had it plugged in. Fired right up. Drove around and did my thing. I noticed when I turned it off and got out the radio would stay on, like the truck didn’t recognize it was off and the driver door was open. I would have to cycle the push button to get it to turn off. Then once I would leave the truck and lock it the “press brake and push button to start” message would display in the gauge cluster. I left the fob inside and would randomly check it and it would still be on. So would the convex mirror light above the window switches. This morning I go to start and it would barley bump. Put the charger on it and said the batter was at 11.4v. Not enough to turn the engine over. I’m assuming this is all connected to my No start. Has anyone experienced this? No codes present. Dealer says they’re gonna look at it again and give me a loaner. Very annoying on a new truck.

When you say left the fob inside are you talking the truck or the house?

Where is the 2nd fob?

In the house. No fob in truck. Second fob is also in the house. 12” radio. Unsure the software version. It did say it needed to be updated yesterday so I did that. When I started it back up it said it was successfully updated.

There was a 12” software version that was killing batteries. Hopefully your update will fix it.

I updated it prior to shutting down yesterday. Dead batteries this morning. Thinking something else is staying on.

That sounds like a good Dealer. Lets hope they get it figured out.

With the dash on message to start the Truck and the Fob outside of it - there is sure something messed up.
Truck running - take the Fob out of the cab - what does the dash say then?

I hope. They have been accommodating. They just came and dropped off a loaner 1500. Hoping they get to the cause and get it corrected. I wanna drive my new truck.

The fob was inside my house and the truck locked. It was left 30 or so minutes without being touched. Message still showed. If I have it running and take the key out it says the fob has left the vehicle. It also doesn’t seem to be acknowledging when I turn it off and exit the vehicle. The radio will keep playing. I have to get back in and cylcle the button with my foot off the brake to get it to turn off. Even though the button says off, not accessory.

I'd try doing a 'Factory Reset' of the uConnect system and start over with it.

They'll figure it out as it is a reproducible fault. Makes it way easier then an intermittent one.

What software version was causing problems? I have not had one but thought I'd check.

26.15 was the worst, but the TSB reads like 26.13/26.18 we’re also culprits. The TSB pretty much lines out all of the OP’s issues.

Hopefully the dealer will look into this. They have it now. I’ll see what they come up with. I just want a definite answer in them finding and correcting an issue. I don’t want worry about my truck starting after a day.

While it’s there I would shop for a good trickle charger. These trucks have a lot of parasitic draw when they are working properly. Mine gets plugged in when it’s parked for more than a couple days, especially in the winter.

I use the NOCO Genius 5. It’s temperature compensating, and stops charging when the battery hits 100% SOC, then starts charging again when battery voltage drops. Great for continued use without damaging the battery. I probably don’t need 5A, but I use it for other batteries too and like the faster charge times than a 1A or 2A.

Whatever you decide if you hardwire a pigtail to the batteries be sure to put the ground on the vehicle side of the IBS so the truck can monitor the charge from the trickle charger.

Been reading about IBS on the negative connector of the battery’s of the new 2022 trucks. Which battery is it on or is it on both . I just connected to the negative terminal with my charger Noco Genius 5 is this bad or wrong. Pictures would be nice thanks

It’s not new for ‘22. I’d guess it was debuted in ‘13.

It’s this sensor on the drivers side battery. As long as you don’t go between the IBS and the battery you are fine.

Connecting to the passengers negative terminal is fine. Don’t connect to the drivers terminal.
