2022 Limited parasitic draw

Looking at the NOCO Genius5, are you using a single channel on the 3500? I was thinking about getting the 3 channel version, then I can plug in my Chevelle and Can-am that are parked in the same space... Truck has been sitting for 3 weeks, no issues tho.

Yes I have the single channel version.

I’m curious, do you have a voltmeter? I’d be interested is seeing what your battery voltage is after 3 weeks of sitting.

I actually was going to check the tractor today, 5y old battery and it was slow to crank yesterday (ambient was 20 tho). I put the Battery Tender on it and it showed "charged" after about 20 min

Sounds like you might need a new tractor battery, but could be the starter too I guess.

I just put a new battery in my TJ and it cranks the same slow way when it’s below 20°F, so I’m thinking the starter may need freshened.

Much more likely to be a battery issue, IMO. If the starter is engaging, it's probably okay. Cold weather brings out the worst in a battery.

Yes the battery is usually the culprit, but motors do age and wear out.

Speaking of charging through the 7pin trailer connector. When I go camping if I leave the camper plugged into the truck will it charge the truck battery? My camper is on solar so during the day the batteries are constantly charging. I also have a generator that gets run at night if we watch tv or in the morning to make coffee.

Yes it will, slowly.

13.55V on right battery / 13.56V on the left. Interesting that the wake up / readiness / Key Fob search (when I opened the door to pop the hood) pulled them down about 0.2V until it went back to sleep.

13.55 or 12.55? 12.55 means that they are above 80% charged still.

Pretty good for sitting that long. The .2V drop for just waking up is impressive on a dual battery setup, but they are starting batteries not deep cycles.

Good deal on the tractor, agree your starter is likely fine.

Think Im going to get that NOCO, but I might let it go another few weeks and check again,... Not a bad idea to leave a charger on for long storage, my old cars and boat stay on battery tenders, but I only have 2 so have to rotate around.

I'll start paying more attention, but I think my '22 activates itself less when I walk by with the FOB in my pocket. I haven't noticed all the noises I did with the '18 as I would walk by, but maybe I'm just used to it.

I know we are talking newer than my 15 but when I got back to the NW in April I shut the truck off for at least 4 months. Hopped in and started right up.

My 20' does not do anything if I walk by with the fob, I have to touch the door handle or open it (fronts only as rears are not sensing), but it is ready by the time I get in and push the button... the other day when I measured the voltage, I did not have the fob, but the "push to start" and 12" splash screen were up due to the door being opened. (step deployed and lights also on)

Got sorta an update from the dealer. Said they got it in today to work on it and this Koenig the batteries were dead. Tried to diagnose but said there is a definite draw. Couldn’t replicate my “press brake and push to start” light I was talking about. Said they’re charging it over night and gonna start testing tomorrow without all the low voltage codes.

Got my truck back from the dealership today. The convex mirror switch was staying powered up causing a 2 amp draw. They unplugged it and the draw went down to .010 of an amp. Left it overnight and checked again. Still good. Replaced switch and said draw was still at .010. They said it’s fixed. Time will tell but have to say it was a pretty good dealership experience. Glad to have the truck back and finally put some miles on it. Thank you all for the help and ideas. I always love this forum.

Yes. It seems to have solved the issue. Been cold mornings and it’s started fine. No sign of any battery issues now.

It’s really not a huge deal, just better for it to be on the IBS side. In a parked scenario you likely would never notice, but it’s too easy to have it charge thru the IBS.
