215/75/17.5 H Tires - Not a Tire War

AZ DOT bust a 2011 Ram 3500

4th gen 2500 4x4 towing a 5th wheel

I said "I" do not have to worry about speed ratings. The only way my truck could do 87 mph is downhill with a stiff tailwind. Furthermore, only an idiot would drive that fast pulling a trailer anyway.

My comment was referring to you instantly changed out the tires and wheels without giving them a try or doing research to see they are a great tire. Maybe I mis understood your comment. No disrespect intended!

Ron I would slap that GY spare right back under that RV without hesitation! You "MAY" need it some time for a short distance til you get the replacement.

My GY "H" replacements will not get changed out for 6-7 years.

I wasn't willing to take a chance on Goodyears (or any other) 15 inch tires. With an Alaskan trip in the works the last thing I needed was a tire failure on the Alaska Hwy. With a duelly I have, in effect, 4 spares available. I did have one flat, but it was a puncture that was easily repaired.

Ron,

Of course that would be easy. Because I'm type A, after road service mounted the GY spare on the ground, I went down the road a couple of miles and purchased a new Durun 215 75R 17.5 H, manufacture date 14/18, speed rated at 62MPH as the new spare. So, I'm at the point I either buy 3 GYs and keep the former never on the ground spare mounted, or I purchase 4 GYs and keep the old GY unmounted.

Also, looking very closely, it appears to me the other three GYs are in very EARLY stages of belt separation. I plan on asking Discount Tire to assess and confirm this and if there is any discount for them as an OEM tire. The GY website did not list any recalls for the G114.

Thanks, Ron

If your Discount Tire store is the same as the one here they will tell you the tires need replacing. The one here told me that a Michelin flat tire had a hole in the sidewall and wanted to sell me a new one. It was a Sunday and the local tire store I do business with regularly was closed. I declined the new tire and went to the local one the next day. The flat was the result of a valve stem failure.

Understood!

OK, here is what you need to do!!!

I have gone thru this so please heed my words.

Contact GY ask for the area GY field rep's number. Contact him tell him you are having belt separation (if they look like my pic you sure have it). He will tell you to take the RV to a GY "OWNED" store, he will make it good for you. Show him your pic of the destroyed tire he may help you with it also along with the damage. Get the bad tire!!!

Tell him I dealt with SoCal rep Fred Khatami and was treated WELL.

I expect a Beer when we meet for all the $$$ I am saving you.

Ron,

Too bad I didn't see this sooner... Tires are in the recycle dumpster at Discount Tire. While I have wheels off, thought I would service the calipers and inspect brakes. Did you keep your MorRyde IS/Kodiak brakes 8KLb or did you upgrade? If I service calipers and find pads need replacement, is this a good part # Napa FLT FT - 7260?

Thanks for all the advice and info.

Cheers, Ron

View attachment 115993 Spec is 86 Buick Century HD Semi Metallic. Would love to find this pad Made in USA like they were a few years ago.

I still have the 8k MORryde IS.

Ron,

Thanks. Yep, the 8KLb MORyde is impressive. The front wheel actually wasn't contacting the ground because the rear one held. I inspected the rubber "springs" and no damage, not even a little split.

I appreciate the help. Will be working on the calipers tomorrow and inspecting the shoes. Gonna replace the brake fluid too.

Cheers, Ron

Be sure to use a good synthetic lube on all the mating parts and slide pins. Use blue LocTite on the slide pins.

While you are at it file any rough mating surfaces!
