Well I,m half way thru my trip, we arrived in Vegas yesterday!!An interesting trip so far. Just before we left Cordova, I installed new Dakota Digital fuel pressure gauges, pre and post filter. Good timing on my part!!! I had just fueled in Fort Nelson,B. C. and was headed out of town and my gauges both started flashing a warning ( 2 psi) at cruise. I pulled over and added a bunch of Power Service. I thought maybe I had picked up a load of water or maybe it was gelling. (-5 F) I was able to buy a new lift pump in Fort ST John at Cummins. The pressure was changing constantly ( a low of 5lb at cruise to a high of 8 lb at cruise , a steady 10 lb at idle) The day I arrived at Pier's in Abbottsford the pump gave up the ghost, down to 2lbs at cruise and 4lbs at idle. After the new pump was installed I get 14 to 15 psi at idle, 12psi at cruise and a minimum of 10 to 11psi at 20lbs boost. I wonder how long it was on the decline???

I can't say enough good about Piers and his crew, Louise and Al. Great people, very good at what they do. They put up with me and my little dog!!( Ruger the Rottweiler) and treated us like family.

The new Southbend clutch works great!!!!!

Al is working on a rear disc brake conversion that sounded real interesting!!! Maybe next trip!!!

Sounds familiar. I had 25K on mine when my lift pump started doing the same thing. One it started, it just got worse. With my new lift pump I am seeing similar results. I'm just glad I had the gauge to let me know. As far as the decline in pressure on mine, it was over the course of about 3 weeks before the pressure would drop for longer than 10-15 seconds, then in about 2 days the bottom dropped out.

Are you running away from the Alaska winter? I moved down here a few years ago from Kodiak. Loved it up there...

We are just gone for 3 weeks, we actually like the winters!!! We have grandkids in Vegas that we see only once a year. Also my only opportunity to wax the truck!!!!!!!!!!

Bob,

Good to hear you caught that bad pump. You missed a good meeting last weekend. Have a good trip and maybe we will see you at the next one.

You should go by Diesel Dynamics and run that truck on the dyno while you are in vegas...

JR2,

It looks like I'll be back in Anchorage on or around the 12th, will you be in town??

The Espar has already earned its keep as far as I'm concerned, it's great to go out to a warm truck every morning!!!!!!!!!!
