Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 240K service

I'm up on 240,000 mile service and was wondering about any suggestions of things to have done to keep the truck running at top performance besides the usual? I probably need new batteries-it's been 5 years since new yellow tops.

Anything?

I took my 98. 5 to a Cummins shop, and they went through the motor, adjusted valves and some other stuff. . don't remember exactly. Ran better afterward, and gave me piece of mind.
They didn't go INTO the motor, just to be clear.

Replace or rebuild injectors if original, adjust valves. . .

I would check the turbo shaft play in addition to the above. The specs are as follows.



radial clearance should be between . 0128 and . 0195.



axial end play " " " . 0015 and . 0035.



Check the fins for any cracks and/or housing contact
