Competition Norcal Sled Pull : )

Competition Dumb Dyno Question.....

I always hear guys wanting to go bigger and badder in the transfer case area.

When I first bought the truck, I thought it would be a weak point also. But after 150,000 miles, with 4 years of sled pulling on it, it has never let me down.

I removed the Fast Cooler, to adjust the 5" exhaust on the new (CENSORED) turbo, (LOL). There was a large snap ring inside it. The case was still working, but I thought it was smart to tear it apart, see where it came from, etc. .

Ordered a new chain, and a rebuild kit, because I was told, the chains are only good for a year, sled pulling. And if you break other drivetrain parts, it stretches them. (I have, plenty. )

Well, after looking inside, we put it all back together with the original parts.

The snap ring came off of a synchronizer clip, which may have jumped loose after my terrible launch back at Muncie.

I could see no measurable wear on anything, and the chain was identical length to the new one.

I have also had guys insist ATF is not heavy enough for it. I agreed with them, but never bothered to change it from what I was running.

Not anymore.

I won't bother telling you what lubricant was in it, anyone who knows the truck, already knows!! ;)

I'm sure I jinxed it, now, but it has been a helluva run.

thanks for the good news

i've kinda been walking on pins and needles since i've got to my current hp ...

posts like this reassure me that i don't need to start stocking up on 2nd gen parts

"anyone who knows the truck, already knows" :D No doubt!

Well If I remember correctly that is the same T-case that "F8LDOSE" has in his rig. So I would be safe to say yea its strong enough... ...

If sleddy didnt brake it on a couple of his launches we all should be ok. Thats the way to do it Gene---why lift keep the hammer down and lets see just what happens next,LOL

Man! :--) I can't believe Sleddy's t-case is in such good shape after all of the abuse its recieved, and the current owner of my previous truck managed to shatter its T-case into two pieces at probably 1/2 the power of Sleddy's Twin'd Truck.
