Well i just put a new stock electric fuel pump on my 24 valve truck.

So I set the old one up in a engine lathe and cut it apart, pulled every thing apart,a low and behold, the brushes were 1/3 gone at 60,000 miles not bad,the pump was clean as a pen,now when i pulled the armature out of the housing ,i found 2 small capacitors broken off, of the main board in the bottom of the pump, one was still in the bottom area, the other one was stuck in the check valve,So this may be some of our problems, the vane pump was in perfect shape,Hope this helps!

Hey Machinest!

That comfirms a feeling that I have had on these pumps. The motors and brushes aren't the problem 99% of the time. It is the p. . s poor design of placing components on a board without hermetically sealing it to prevent vibration damage.

Would you please post some pictures??

Thanks,

John

I have a digital camera ,I'm at work right now, maybe tonight i will try and post some pics, those little capacitors are small little fellows ,about 3/16' in dia and about the same in length, but you can see where they were fixied to the circut board! Thanks all!

GREAT pics, this is exactely what we need. WHY it failed. VERY VERY COOL.

Totally agree. This is the FIRST time I think we have SEEN the inside fo the pump and circuit board.

I would have assumed (we all know where that gets you) that the circuit board would have been sealed.

Looks like BOSCH makes poor quality pumps, not industrial strength. Someone should have a BEEF-UP service to make the pump bullet proof.
