This may turn out to be a dumb question, but what exactly does a silencer ring do (obviously silence) and where is it?(obviously on the turbo somewhere) Does it do anything except quiet down turbo? Are there any reasons not to remove it? I straight piped my dodge and it sounds great. Every where I go people want to know how I made it sound like a big rig and do I have some kind of expensive exhaust? It turns out the owner and two mechanics at the local Midas have cummins as well and when they found out what I needed a 5'?" piece of 3" pipe for, they cut it, bent it, flanged it for the price of the pipe and a sixpack of budwiser. But I've had a couple of people tell me to remove silencer ring. But I don't trust these people farther than I can throw them. (That's why I ask If there is even such a thing as a silencer ring). Where is it and how hard is it to remove? exactly how loud will it be? hell, If nothing else, I'd like to experiment and see. If I knew what I was doing I would have done it yesterday. Just thought I'd post and see if it was a bad idea, unlike my usual mode of operation: experiment now hate life later
