[QUOTE/] So, it was a huge improvement over not having one at all. [/QUOTE]
Ha, you know I though that might have been the case after I posted that. Good to know that it can be done though. Thanks. Dang, how do you do quotes on here???
Thanks everyone who has added to this. Through the posts on here, PMs, and emails I have gotten some really good info.
My intercooler contact asked me about radiator upgrades and fan upgrades. He brought up a good point that if the IC is taking more heat out of the charged air, then the radiator will be picking that heat up off of the IC fins. Is this enough to worry about? I'm guessing probably not. If so though, he suggested the possibility of a bigger fan. But that may steal more power from the engine which will negate any of the work I did. He is not familiar with this particular swap but he can understand why it would work. He's working on getting me performance curves for all intercoolers, radiators, and fans that will fit my truck to see if we can put together the best combination. I am also going to try to get him to look at some electric fan options. Just so happens that his company also supplies many electric fans to the various automotive companies. According to his calculations, the stock mechanical fan takes about 35hp to operate. Ouch! I've seen somewhere an electric fan replacement for the mechanical fan but I think it was like $700.
There's just a few other things to throw out there for people to think about.
Thanks again!!!
