Was just sitting here brainstorming tonight, wondering what it would take to put a p-pump on my 24v. I realize I'd have to change the timing case, get some custom injector lines made up (unless someone sells something already)... is there anything else? Must you run a mechanical lift pump with the p-pump (if so, I realize I'd have to change the cam as well)? Is there anything electrical I'd have to take care of other than a 12v supply to the shutoff solenoid and a pickup for the tach, or does the ecu control all the gauges on a 24v? I doubt I'll ever be able to make this happen, but a guy can dream cant he?:)

I think there is a problem with injectors because of different pop off pressures. This mod has been done. Maybe someone who has done it will chime in here.

AFoulk,

Piers Diesel Research has the entire kit. Already looked into it for a friend. Kinda pricey but it is out there.

There are threads on here referencing just what you're talking about. From what I recall, it's expensive and painful to boot.

I know it would be a lot of work, but just the piece of mind I'd have not having to worry about my VP44 going out anymore almost seems worth it. I would have really liked to get a 12v to begin with, but finding one with low mileage and a body in good shape around here is near impossible. I figured the injectors I could always reshim to lower the pop off pressure.

It isn't that painfull. Mines been running well for 4 years. No problems that weren't self induced. Alot on info on DTR site about this.

I looked into the different kits available last night. I don't think it would really cost that much more than if I were to replace my VP pump when it goes out plus add an edge module, fass system, and injectors that I had planned anyways. I could probably even do it cheaper if I could find a doner engine to get the front housing, inj. pump and lift pump off of. I'm just not sure I wanna put myself thru all the work and hassle of doing it yet and then not be happy with the driveability of it.
