are the off brand injectors on e-bay that can be had for about $200 any good? Or should I stay away from them? Thanks... .....

I suggest you put the $200. 00 towards the price of the DDIII's. I started with the DDI's only because of my stock auto transmission. People were standing in line for my DDI's when I went to the DDIII's so I guess you could resell the 275's later. I guess I didnt help a whole lot. (hot air)

I don't know anything specific about those injectors, but 275's helped mileage and power in mine!!

Ask how many miles are on them and if they will stand behind them for a month.

I would not buy a set of Bosch knock offs, but thats just me.

However, there are genuine Bosch 275's for sale on ebay for $225. Real good price. I purchased mine from this guy . They have a shop, Midwest Fuel Injection Service, and provide top notch service.

Their ebay handle is "injector-man".

Kev,

I just saw those on ebay. I am going to get a set, I was just waiting to hear some good reports on the company selling them.

I'm looking at the same upgrade. My dilemma is. . do I bomb first and finish off my clutch, or do I wait until I have a new SB clutch in and then bomb? :)

Probably gonna go with DD1's although the 2's sound inticing.

Well I just looked at the sellers' other items. Looks like they only have the 275s. Not sure right now if that will be enough.

LOL, he is selling ONE injector for a PowerSmoke at the same price as a set of SIX for a Cummins! Man I love Cummins diesels!

Oo.

Chris,

I'm gonna go for the 275's . Can't beat the price for the horsepower and torque you get. Your clutch should be o. k. with just 275's. More powerOo.

I already have an early Edge "3 light" box that I've been running for over 37,000 miles. So far my stock clutch only slips on level 3 when the air is cold (winter). I'm pretty sure it will slip with 275s, and DEFINITE it will with DDI's or more. ;) I don't tow often and when I do it's only a boat/trailer at 6,000 Lbs. The 275s will suit me fine for now but without a doubt I will want more if I have the clutch to hold it. Saving for a South Bend now.

What I don't want is EGTs so high that I cannot use level 3, and no excessive smoke so that rules out IIs and IIIs.

*edit added*

I've been watching EBAY and have seen those 275s for a while now and then. I may bid on a set soon and put em in, run the stock clutch to see what happens first.

Sounds like a pretty safe bet to bid on stuff from Injector-Man. :)

Jason- rest assured, they are a great company to deal with. They have four locations and are a certified Bosch shop. I've ordered a few sets from them and nothing but :D. Shipping is even cheap too. Talk to Ben or Kevin, they'll set you up.

"The injectors are set to give you 40 % more horse power. "

Well, that's what he says. So these will give me another 94 HP over my stock of 235? I don't think so. Regardless, it's a good deal and I may get a set from him too. Thanks for the tip.

Jim,

I recall reading that an ETC truck with 5 speed transmission may see about 40 rwhp from the 275 injectors. ETH trucks saw nearly 60 rwhp with 275's and the autos responded well also. A 40% power increase for $200 would sell like crazy though wouldn't it?

I have installed many sets of 275s in autos, 5 and 6 speeds. They only seem to work well in autos and 6 spds only. You will hardly notice a differance in your 5 spd truck, they add only about 30 to 35 hp (feels like less to me). They will add about 50 hp in an auto or HO. I I were you I'd get a set of DD2s or Stage 2 or 3 Bully dogs. They will wake your 5spd up quite nicely. ;) Might also look into a boost fooler or a small box (i. e. EZ or Puck. )

My question is if you just install the 275 injectors, will the extra boost they produce set a code? In other words can you just install the injectors and nothing else?

Injectors alone will not increase boost. To do that, you need a modified boost elbow and an electronic device, aka boost fooler, to modify the MAP signal to prevent setting codes.

Jim

Bigger injectors shoot in more fuel which equates to more power but more smoke and higher EGTs. To compensate, more air from the turbo will stabilize EGTs. More boost will give you the extra air but if the computer MAP sensor sees more boost it will set a code and defuel by default to save the engine. That's the way it's programmed. So you have to install a "boost fooler" which tricks the computer so it never sees the higher boost. Then you install an orifice in the wastegate line (boost elbow) which in effect makes the wastegate open slower so you get the additional boost. The added boost will lower EGTs and reduce the black smoke.

The Edge box I have on my Ram has the boost fooler installed in it's programming and the box came with a brass boost elbow. I am getting 29 PSI max under load and EGTs around 1,300 max in level three which is the maximum setting. I have stock injectors but plan on installing injectors soon. Since I have the Edge box I already have the boost fooler and the boost elbow, the added fuel will thus spin the turbo faster via more exhaust pressure which will make more boost depending on the injectors.

So the question that I have is this... if installing only injectors but no fueling module/box, what do ya use for a boost fooler and where do you get a boost elbow? (I'm asking this question for the fellas reading this thread planning on installing injectors but don't have a box).

So if I understand this correctly, 275 injectors alone on a stock (unmodified) engine will not give a power increase just more smoke & EGT?

275 injectors

If I understand this thread correctly with installing the 275's on a stock ETC with the auto trans one should pick up approx. 50 RWHP but with that HP increase you will also gain Smoke, & higher EGT's until you install a boost elbow (Boost Fooler) or a fueling box that has the boost fooler proggrammed in accompanied with the boost elbow... .

Would this be correct?
