Installed my 275 injectors on Sat. Dec. 29. Thanks goes out to Ibig44 ( Wes ) for all the help. He drove 2. 5 hours to help me get them in. Anyway, we put them in and took it on its first test run. See my sig for the other upgrades. I have 31,000 miles on the truck. We left the driveway and WOW, I love the power :D the smoke came out and away we went. Now on the way back 1. 5 miles later I was talking to Wes and I was in 6 gear and mashed it, rrrrrrr then it grabed. I looked at Wes and he was laughing. My clutch has never slipped before! Oh well, I need to join the "slipping clutch annymous" club, can someone tell me where to sign up at? ;) Anyway, I wanted to thank Ibig44 (Wes) for helping, and to let everyone know what upgrade I have just completed!

The Bombing bug has bitten, and the credit card is getting full!! I will do my best to have a new clutch by the dyno in Jan. for us N. C. folks.

Happy Trucking!!!

Kimrey, I noticed the same thing right after installing my injectors and also last spring just after installing the VA box. Thing is that shorly after the slippage went away. Could it just be that the clutch has to get "used to" the new power level???? Or is it that we have to get used to how to apply this new found power??? I don't know but I'll wait to see what happens.

You know we went out last night and it din't slip anymore. Although I din't really try to slip it. I did get on it alot, playing with the new power:D So I wonder if it is possible for the clutch to "get used " to the power?

I meant to ask, how were the old injectors that everybody took out? Mine were cruddy, they had carbon built up on the tips. Is that normal? I ran the fuel conditioner in it every couple of thousand miles or so. Ibig44 said his were clean when he took his out. Any thoughts?

His out @ 13,000 miles

Mine out @ 31,000 miles

Actually, the stock injectors I took out were cleaner than the used set of 275's I put in.

Made me wander if I should have taken them somewhere to get them cleaned first. I don't know if that can be done or not??? I run Stanadyne performance formula in every tank. I figured that would clean them as I drive. The only thing I have noticed is a slight bucking in 5th at 1800 rpm on a hard pull. I'm not sure if it's the injectors or clutch chatter. Can the clutch chatter at this speed?? I don't know just a thought. Once I get to 2000 rpm it clears out.

George OO, That's a new one on me. I've never heard of the ones coming out cleaner than the ones going in. As far as the chatter goes, I've only heard of it chattering like when your backing or something.

Yea, I'm probably just pulling at straws here with the chatter statement. Just weird how the miss, or bucking only does it at that one point in excelleration. Someone else mentioned that maybe I didn't have the injector tubes torqued properly but I checked that and all seamed ok. Now I didn't pull the valve cover back off and retorque the injector hold down bolts. Boy there's a scarry thought, If the injector hold down came loose and the bracket vibrated out of place, compression would shoot that injector right out through the hood!

RPM's

Kimrey,

You should feather the accel till you hit around 2000 in 5th or 6th then mash it if you want. It is a lot easier to slip the clutch if you get on it when the RPM's are a little low, or so I have been told.

The brass or copper material in the clutch will help to break up and remove the glazing that occures from slipping the clutch. I would think that just the 275's would let the stock clutch live.

The torque was prolly at its peak and maybe, just maybe the clutch was not fully engaged. Just a light push on the pedal can cause it to not be fully locked up.

I have the Southbend and love it.

Heavy foot I guess. Been driving all day, and its nonthing for it to slip. Even when I pass somebody, or climbing a small hill. To keep up speed it will slip some. First thing in the morning I'm going to see about a southbend clutch and see if I can find somebody to put it in by Fri. As we are going camping, I don't think I will be able to pull the fiver like it is now! Thanks for all the comments.
