Thinking of putting a set of Toyo Open Country A/T LT285/75R-17s on my 04. 5 2500 CTD Quad Cab. Stock chrome steel 8" x 17" wheels, no lift or levenling kit.

Will these rub at all? Will HD truck chains cause a problem with rear wheel liners?

Thanks

No rub here. And as well I really like these tires. Good on the ice and dry road as well.

I had 295's on stock wheels that rubbed the wheel well liners when I had a heavy load. You can heat them up and push them back, but I don't think you'd have clearance for chains.

my 315's on stock wheels rub slightly the rear wheel well liners when the axle articulates...

i think the 285's with chains will rub the liners out back too. .

I have looked at some pics of 285/75/17's and dont think HD chains will fit up front, but the rear should be ok unless you really articulate... For this reason I will go with the 285/70's.

I believe those are load range D tires. Has anyone had any problems with them being they are not load range E, as recommended for our trucks? The reason I ask is because I am considering putting these on my truck. Thanks for the input.

They are "E" rated and hold 3970lbs per tire... compared to OEM 265's at 3195/tire.

Hello, I have a 2004 Ram 2500 4x4 Quadcab with no lift and chrome 8x17 wheels. I installed 285-17 toyo AT tires July 2007. With 8000 miles on the tires I've had no problems with tire rub. I have only used cable chains but there is plenty of clearance. Good tires.

Got the Toyo Open Country AT 285/75R-17s. Then took a trip from Minden, NV to Baudette, Mn. Ran into some snow and ice. Tires performed well, not noisy, smooth ride, handled well and went well in the snow. Did not rub at all. Even seems to have room for chains. Will try them on later.

Fellow $4 a gallon oil burners. Has anyone figured out exactly what to tell the dealership what to put in there handheld to make the speedometer corret with these tires. The machine asked two questions. Revs per mile and I believe pinion. Please help me tell them what to put in

Run down the road with your GPS and find out how accurate your speedo is. If it is off by more than a few percent, then the revs per mile should be: Current revs/mile * (1 - (%error*100)), which will now be a number that is a few percent lower than the current revs/mile. In actuality, you really shouldn't have to change it. my speedo went form 1. 5mph fast to 2mph slow at 60mph going from the stock Michelins to the 33" tires in my sig. YMMV.

I have 295 Toyo MT's and a Kore suspension. The Ice bars on my snow chains barely clear the factory mud flaps that serve each front wheel well. Have the tire dealer mount up one tire and throw it under the truck for you to look over. The chain clearance thing seems to only be an issue at the rear of the front wheel wells.
