I have 7. 5X16 stock steel wheels and want to get 295/75s on them. The manufacturers charts say they will work (minimum width rims that will work). Couldn't find anything in past threads search concerning the wider steel wheels of the '01s. Anybody know of any problems?
Well... . if it makes you feel any better, I have 6. 5" stock chrome steel wheels on my '99 and have been told by many on this forum that 285/75 will work fine. I dont think you have anything to worry about going with 295's on a 7. 5" wheel.
gradylaw the data from BFG for the 295/75r16 shows 7. 5-9. 5 inches for rim width. You are absolutely fine. The only possible draw back is slightly greater center wear. Are you looking at bfgs or Nittos?
I am running 285's without any problem. They seem to fit the rim good and are wearing good on the front. The back seems to be wearing a little fast. I dont think it has anything to do with the fit though.
I am thinking about going with the Nittos but haven't decided for sure yet. My 245 Michelins are still OK for now but I am anxious to get some substantial shoes for the beast. I go 95% on the road but get very dirty the little bit I go off road and snowy on trips up north. Thanks for the replies.
