2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 2nd Gen Dash cracks

My '95 is completely cracked from the windshield to the trim around the A/C controls. It started rattling real bad and I had to use duct tape for a quiet ride.

CRACKED!!!!!!. I have no dash. The whole thing collapsed in on top of the wiring, from the airbag switch to the driver door. A recall would be really cool. mine is light brown and i just filed a complaint with the link the news provided, gona call dodge too( we all know how well that works)

sounds like a common problem. Mine is similar to jeffs, only i have about 6 different cracks like that all over the dash. anyone know any thing more about a recall? or is this just rumor?

Mine is agate (charcoal) 99 model year, and cracked like Jeff's mostly on the passenger side. It looks horrible from the outside.

yea mine is basically collapsed too, i just epoxied the pieces together to keep it from rattling and put a dash mat over it. dash color is grey

I have a 2000. Dash is grey and has about 6-7 big cracks. It has not caved in yet but it is a matter of time. Keep this tread going we may have a chance for a recall!!!!!!!

Ferd and Chevy have the same problems with cracked dash. It sounds like the darker the dash the more likely the problem.

Thats just the one crack with the hole. There are others. A recall would be nice. Jeff

It sounds from the story that it only involves 2001 trucks. But, although mine is a 2002, and doesnt have the problem YET, I did get it in Sept of 2001. I wonder if anyone on this site with an 02 has the cracking.

2002 Grey Dash, with lots of cracks and a few holes, from 2-3" across. Was just about to replace it. Maybe I'll wait till the recall, or until all I have is holes, . Going to the link to see if it can help.

i have a 97 and that dash is all sorts of cracked. Its creating a hole at the base of the windsheild. My vin now resides in the glove box.

I put a Dash mat on my 01 two years ago when I bought the truck. I lifted the mat; l there's two cracks on the gray dash.

It sounds like a dash mat doesn't prevent the dash from cracking, but I'm sure it helps. I firmly believe that dusting the dash once a week is the best thing you can do. I never had a dash mat on my 95, which I had for 10 years, and never had a hint of a crack, but I did keep it well dusted. Also when the truck was parked in the summer months, at home or at work, I kept a windshield screen on it.

I had so many cracks in the dash, it was about to fall in. Order a new dash from dodge for $200. I took me about 6 hours to swap in the new one.

'95 maroon dash is cracked in 3 places.

'96 tan dash is uncracked, as well as 4 other 2nd gen CTD trucks in the immediate family.

Hey Gang : Has any one been folowing the TV stories about 2nd gen Dodge dashboards cracking? If you Google

( WKMG Local 6 ) and look for the story.

It started April 30 with a story about 3 Dodge owners , whos dash boards had either cracked or collapsed in due to the stress of sunlight. On May 1st the follow up story said the station got hundreds of calls reporting the same. On May 2nd they reported thousands of replies to the story with similar complains. Last night, May 3rd they reported that Diamler Chrysler is looking into a possible recall. Toe link on that story gives the # to call to lodge a complaint about the dash cracks.

Too late, already had mine replaced last year. The body shop said it was the Florida sun (it is parred in my driveway) Oh well I got 8 years out of it. I went to Auto Zone and got a dash cover. It is like a rug. Am told that will protect it and it looks kinda nice.
