I think that it is a bit of a project but I don't really know. I am curious about this. The turbo is in a different spot so a new down pipe to connect to the exhaust and some re working of the intake. I have asked to see some pics of this if any one has them but nobody posted any?

If you're just replacing the manifold with another stocker or a 3-piece for the proper engine the turbo will be in the same position. No downpipe needed.

You will need to remove the turbo and the old manifold. You will need new exhaust gaskets and a new turbo base gasket. If you remove the turbo drain tube you'll need a new gasket there. I would also suggest new manifold bolts if the new one doesn't come with them and new hardware for the turbo base. Other than that, all you'll need is a torque wrench. It's not a bad job.

The 2nd gen manifold is different than the 3rd gen. The turbo flange is centered on three and four. Putting the turbo further forward.

Isn't the only real point in doing this swap to make room for twins?
Otherwise whats the benefit over just using a good aftermarket 3rd gen manifold?

I looked into doing this a few years ago and here is what I cam up with as far as parts.

downpipe, CAC pipe, intake, oil drain.

I ended up going with a ATS 2-piece 3rd gen manifold instead. It's nearly as even as a 2nd gen manifold and let me keep my downpipe, OEM intake (hard to beat), and oil lines. . Really I am not sure you will see much of an improvement on a 2nd gen over a ATS or BD aftermarket.

I'll take pics tomorrow RIP at Source Automotive did mine when changing the turbo it would'nt clear the firewall so rather than beat the firewall in they came up with the plan for using the 2nd gen manifold works perfect.
