I saw that and the tailshaft seems too long and it is splined at the output.

The one I have has a yoke that is held to the output shaft by one huge nut and the tailshaft is much shorter. Maybe this is for ext. cab models, not sure.

The one that was in mine is like yours, Phil. I don't know what the one on ebay with the longer tailshft came out of. I have a reg. cab.

I sure would like to figure it out soon ! The one in my 87 Chev. ctd has a Gear vender OD hanging on it, plus the nut on end of shaft. Hard to compare them. I could use the trans, but only if my OD will fit it. Gear Venders site lists 1990 and up 727 ctd. ( why not 89 ?) Also lists tailshaft lengths. Shipping would be high I suspect to Wi. 600 mi. Any idea on weight ?

727 trans

The trans in the auction is a 727 3 spd for a diesel But some one has put a gas car tailshaft housing and main shaft in it..... Chry never built any in this configuration for production... .

If you look closely at the pictures you can see the color differance between the main and tail housings... .

Now that you mention it, I did notice the difference. Why would someone do this? It is basically useless to us unless the tailshaft/output shaft and extension housing were changed out. Seems like a lot of work to me. The rest could be used for parts if'n it was overhauled.

they wanted to put a diesel in a ramcharger and use the orginal driveshaft?????
