At what price/gallon of diesel will you really

Apples to Oranges Rusty... . It is Bullcrap and you now it. Look at Bushies new Energy bill, and who is the big winner? The oil lobby..... Read it, instead of laying lame brain decade old data on us. Times change, and greed always grows...

As I said on the other thread, I've spent 57-1/2 years in the oil industry, so what exactly qualifies you to throw terms like "bullcrap" and "lame brain" at me? I await your curriculum vitae.

There has been a huge spike in CA diesel prices in the last 5 days as you've noticed -- even relative to gas prices. According to an article in last Thursday's Wall Street Journal, one cause is the temporary shutdown of portions of Chevron's El Segundo, CA refinery. The refinery is slated to resume production Aug. 13.

For now, I'm driving a work truck, and crossing my fingers that I see price relief towards the end of next week!

Big flipp'n deal. They raise the price every day for a week as the price per barrel trickles up, yet when the price falls (barrel) or a refinery goes back on line, it takes a month of Sundays to drop the price. . That is just total CRAP! Personally, I think anyone withi a turban on their head needs to be exported! Also, I feel that ALL TAXES should be lifted until someone figures out W-T-F is responcible for this corruption! Gee, do I sound a bit P-Oed? You bet cha!!!

Jcleary vs Heavyweight

Jcleary, very intelligent post. IF I was judging this match I would say Heavyweight is up against the ropes about to go down. This is leaning towards the political forum at this point.

Wondering if Heavyweight isnt really Michael Moore but I cant imagine him driving a diesel.

wonder if this could turn out like an Enron thing... . yes it is traded on the NYSE but it sure smells of bs... again... record profits with a good chunk of refineries shut down. . ???>..... BS... ... cracks me up that one day the media reports a surplus... day later opposite... and diesel!!! holy cow batman... . explain to me why it costs more for diesel right now... and no fire bs ALRIGHT? it is all bunch of garbage... oh ya you brain dead people who state" it could be like in Europe 7. 00 per gallon"!!. . that is all TAXES... . oh but if anyone heard the news this am about the coastal commision threating a law suit against the oil companies if they start to drill of off the cali coast on leases that are GOVERNMENT auth AND leagal but unable cuz of the freaking treehuggers that moved here from a different state!!ok I am done

Big oil is a monopoly which I thought was illegal. Everytime a Roughneck sneezes on one of the rigs in the gulf the price goes up,its sickening. Its price gouging which I thought was illegal. Im sick of it. If you remember the shortage in the early 80's we are suppose to be out of oil now. I saw the shortage down here in Texas they stopped production and I saw the pump jacks stop pumping in the fields, anchored the tankers in the gulf, while the refineries and tanks were full. They just switched the switch off and cried oil crisis to make a point to goverment over the fuel taxes at that time. It was a joke and now we make full circle and here we are again. Its time for some heads to roll.

I seen on the local news tonight that gas in Texas was not going up??

Just what I heard. .
Fact: Regular unleaded has increased from $2. 21/gallon to $2. 32/gallon (average) over the last week. Source: KTRK TV and Houston Chronicle.

Well according to www.dallasgasprices.com here in Texas I'm seeing diesel running from $2. 189 a gallon at a Albertsons in Frisco to $2. 699 a gallon at a Texaco in Dallas. Pretty good spread of price difference to me. My local station is $2. 399 as of yesterday and going up every couple of days.

Funny, the news yesterday said we have set a high price record each day this week in the DFW area.

North of Boston, diesel prices are around $2. 49-$2. 55/gl. I found a Hess station closeby that is selling diesel for $2. 39. That was 2 days ago, so not sure if they want up yet.

Boynton Beach, FL -- Drove by Valero this AM. Price was $2. 49. This afternoon I decided to fill'er up. Was $2. 59 at 1:45 PM. Up $. 10 in 3 hours.

Nice having a texas oil man in the White House isn't it. :-{}

You gotta pay back your constituents for getting you elected -- Even if it's on the backs / sweat / tears of the working man.

It's the American Way.

Let me see if I am to believe some of you high oil prices are all President Bush's fault. I know you hear it from every liberal you run into, big oil has Bush in it's back pocket. The truth is this country has built no new refineries in the past 30 years, don't know how that is Bush's fault. Not just a back yard issue, you could not get EPA's approval to build a refinery in the remotest part of Alaska, And, it takes several years of fighting with the EPA just to get permission to marginally expand the output capacity of the ones we have. It's no wonder that oil companies who have no problem selling all the oil they can produce, at a very good price, have got tired of fighting the environmentalist. Additionally, the radical environmentalist have stopped the drilling for oil in any of the 50 states, and in all area along the coast of every state. What is

Bush supposed to do. Would you suggest he tell the Oil companies that they must sell to American consumers at a price he sets, OR they can not sell it at all in the US. With the world wide demand for oil such as it is now I am sure they would tell him to sit on it. If they did refuse to sell at his price, our economy would go into the tank in about 5 days. Then all you guys that complain because Bush is doing nothing would really have something to complain about.

Just look how hard it was just to get the energy bill just passed through Congress. Bush has been trying for 5 years. I admit it's a lousy bill , with a lot of pork, but it's the only way it could get passed. Congress also to date have refused to allow drilling in Alaska, and no one is even willing to try to get permission to drill along the costal areas of the US. Also, don't forget the environmentalist have also managed to stop the building of nuclear power plants for the past 30 years.

All of these things have contributed to the high price of oil, along with the change in demand by the global economy, but notice one thing, the environmentalist have had their hand in every issue related to the reduction oil ,and other types of energy produced by this country. So, if you want to be mad at someone because of high diesel/gas prices be mad at a tree hugger, not President Bush.

If you really want to help resolve this problem, let your representatives in Congress know that you want nuclear energy, drilling in Alaska, and any place else this country may have oil, easy approval to build refineries, funding for alternative fuels, and the elimination of unnecessary fuel additives.

Don't get me wrong no one wants to hurt the environment. But, the truth is we can do all the things I mentioned above and do very little, or nothing, to harm the environment. As an example, about half of the Navy ships are nuclear powered, and they have been operating for years without one problem.

hmmmmm my turn...

Okay so where is all that oil that is flowing down that long winding pipe line from Alaska, hmmmm being sold by our gov't to other countries for higher prices, could it be we are buying some of our own oil back at 10times the price, can someone elaborate on that one.

Second, rural areas like i live in cannot sustain this fuel crunch, pple here driving over an hour now to work for pennies due to no jobs, all have either folded up or moved out of the country(free trade act my ***), So for those of you whom live in suburbia feel fortunate, you have necessities within reach most of the time, driving shorter distances.

Its like i always have said once the farms are gone, where you going to eat? Oh but wait the lady from the city has the answer " i will just go to the grocery store" Duh!!! where does one think that comes from. So you can thank our gov't and their free trade, housing development among other things to why the rule of supply and demand is out of control, I know for a fact that Milk, yes some of the very milk you drink comes straight across the border from Mexico in non refrigerated milk trucks from Mexican farms, ohhhh now that made you think didn't it.

Our land and farmers are disappearing by the weeks, less land=less farms which=less food... . now just think what all that less means, well in order for it to be shipped from all over the country and foreign lands, guss what it takes good ole' number #2... trains, trucks, airplanes. . oh did i mention gas also.

Im done, at least i feel some better, even though our communistic gov't still won't listen to a common man with ideas that make more sense than anything they have conjured up in the last 20yrs. :-laf

Man did you hit it on the head Mr Earp,it amazes me that people defend the POOR Oil Company's. Explain to me how there production is down but they are setting record profits. My wise ol grandpa who owned a corner pharmacy had a profit margin of 20% and lived very well. He told me that Greed will get us all. Now days if a company does not meet expected earnings they say it was a loss. How can profit be a loss. I do not blame Mr Bush for this it is just greed. Any way those Oil Exec's need that big money cause they need to buy lot's of oil themselves to heat those 20,000 sq ft homes. And one more thing how come it's always the liberals who do not like all this. Heck I am a independent and I am just tired of my what used to be my decent middle class salary become less and less each year.
