The dealer wants $1400 dollars to fix these things and it just grates me. One diode for the fan control, an ABS sensor in left front wheel and steering box leak. All out of warrantee now (04. 5) Seems like with a little help I or a cheaper shop could fix these things. Anybody have experience here? Much Thanks, George

Andres has some excellent advice.

ABS sensors are a piece of cake, requiring almost no mechanical skills beyond the ability to remove the wheel.

What fan control are you talking about - engine fan or HVAC fan? I'm not aware of a diode in the HVAC fan control circuit, but there may be one somewhere in the engine fan controller.

Thanks guys. I am encouraged. After my lament I started searching and learned about the possibility of pressure in the pump. That was the big bill. Then when I picked up the truck I priced the diode for the heater fan motor and saw that it is down under the passenger side of the dash... easy access to bottom of motor there. The abs schnivvy is a small thing (both these things are expensive at Dodge!) that goes somewhere either behind the wheel or under the disc. Ryan says it is easy. I am gonna get these things figured myself. Box seems to work fine so betting it is not the big expense. Got hit $200 for the diagnosis so better make sure it pays off. Love to get a code ID tool. Is the Smarty one? What are the options there? Thanks again, George
