Truck is in for the lug nut recall and while it's there I'm having the oil and filter changed, Fuel filters changed and they suggested an "injector tune up" which they clean and check the injectors. The schedule calls for this at 30,000 miles, I have 38,000 on my 2012 3500 crew dually.

Is the injector work necessary or is it just a money maker for the shop? I've been keeping up on the maintenance. Just curious about this one.

Thanks
Greg

What schedule calls for this at 30,000 miles? I don't see it in the owners manual. I wonder what an injector tune up involves?

Ask what it entails… I bet it’s nothing more than a fuel injector cleaner in the tank that they charge your 10x the retail
value to dump it in your tank.

Run away! That's a pour in tank type deal that makes huge profits for them and probably a program for the tech! Used to have a program that they saved the colored stickers from the caps and trade for cash! Never heard or seen that listed in O/M. I'd inquire where it's listed in O/M and call there bluff that it's needed. JM2C.

Edit: Just looked on my 2014 O/M and there's nothing of the such listed!

I think I got what is called in the Service Writer world, an Up Sell. In layman terms, screwed.
I tried to call and text the service writer and he's not responding. Can't wait to pick up my truck, which will most likely be on Friday now.

BTW I had ignored the lug nut recall until one of the studs sheered off...
