I am looking in different places for BOMBing. I want my truck to have 300+ hp, mostly for going fast on interstate. What would be the best combination for power, keeping everything under redline? 96 with manual transmission. I will have 4" exhaust and K&N filter, what else and where-- low cost is good. I thought about Banks, any takers? I would like to change my turbo-wastegate or not?

Jacob082, Don't waste your money on the BANKS system. It's way overpriced. All you need is a good healthy fuel plate #ad
. Check-out http://www.dieselpage.com/tstpk.htm
You should have a boost gauge and a EGT gauge. (gage or gauge??? spelling... it's late what can I say)

Jacob, come to the rally at Belton Lake, TX near Temple) this Saturday (I plan to arrive Friday). See the local and regional events forum for info. I can give you some suggestions as long as you don't need more than 510 hp at the wheels (around 600 flywheel I suppose).

Jacob082, Get the TST #11 torque plate it is rated at 280 HP 685 FP of torque when in the stock position. After you get gauages if don't don't already have then you can move it slightly forward . 020 or so should give you about what you are looking for.

Hey, Drawson what does your exhaust sond like? Does it sound like a semi truck? If so, where can I get the Bullet muffler?

OK, with some consideration, I picked out a few good things. I was thinking about a HX40(wastegated) 16cm trubo, 4" turbo back exhaust(where to get?), K&N filter, AFC spring kit, gauges, RPM spring kit for pump(where to get?), and TST #10 plate. This will let me have 300+ hp and still have room to get BOMBed. Is this a good combination? Future plans will be injectors(275).

That's fine but costs a bit. . . and you will need a premium clutch. You can get that magic 300 hp at the wheels with just the TST#11 and the 16 cm2 turbine housing. Is that enough for you?

I also want to be able to adjust the way fuel is delivered(no govener cutoff early), and to have some control over the smoke(want some but not a lot). I am mostly looking to expnad the hp range, so when I rev it up, I still have power to go. Is the TST #10 and 375 injectors good, or do I need to go to a #8 or #6 plate(what results do you get with those plates)?

Jacob, this stuff has been discussed many times in the forum. It is too much stuff and too complicated to make a simple post and answer all your questions. I am coming 1450 miles to Belton Lake. By the map, it looks like about 40 miles for you. Can you come to the rally some time Friday or Saturday to discuss the possibilities?

Reviewing past posts, I found one that is colse to wha I want. I was always wondering what it would be like to have 400hp under the hood, so that is where I will go and stop. I will have the HX 40 turbo, 370 injectors, TST #10, 4" exhaust(looking for a loud muffler). Will add AFC spring kit, gauges, and air filter. I am now looking for help in getting a good muffler.

I am usng the Walker 21471 muffler. You can see all the stuff you mentioned, and hear the exhaust, if you can meet me at the rally sometime this weekend.

Can ou describe what it sounds like, I acnnot come to the rally. I just found about the rally two days ago and I have prior work commitments. I am just looking for a muffler that has a good tone, somewhat loud and sounds like a semi truck. Where do I get information on the Walker mufflers?

Jacob032, My bullet muffler was ordered at NAPA. It is a race only muffler made to be put on the end of 4" collectors on headers on race cars. My truck does sound like a semi, you can hear the turbo out the exhaust. I put the muffler on and the crome turn down to lessen the exhaust note in the shell for my kids when we are on a trip. The combination of the two is just right although at time I wish I had the stock tail pipe when an import showgun is getting bad I could feel his car with smoke.

As far as power goes Joe is the man, he has test more combination than anyone I have seen and has real data. I have 370 HP injectors on there way as well as a 16CM2 housing and with the #11 moved back I am hoping for 375 - 400 HP.
BEWARE
The really bad thing about this bombing is it never seem to stop, just a while back I was happy with 342 now I am going for more I will probibly end up with the #10 and the super turbo eventially.

Jacob082,

If you want to sound like a semi, s***can the muffler and cat. #ad

Joe D. -- Would you please consider moving to Western Pennsylvania? If not, I guess I will have to relocate to Utah/Nevada. #ad

Jacob:
It's obvious from the number of posts and the questions you ask that you are new. Joe Donnelly is the godfather of performance for this forum and he has been kind enough to answer your posts and offer you unlimited assistance with your questions. STOP talking past him and listen to what he says. And whatever it takes go to whatever rally he plans on attending! He travels over a 1,000 miles and you can't travel 40 miles? It's unlikely you'll have another opportunity to meet him in person and talking to him is like talking to the Pope. Bear in mind he can be real moody and he's NEVER been that nice to me so for heaven's sake PAY ATTENTION to what he says and do whatever it takes to rendezvous with him!

Hmmm, lessee, Radixr, you are near Erie, Pa. You are around 60-100 miles closer to the Belton rally than I am (my quickest route is 1452 miles, shortest is around 100 miles less but takes longer according to R-McN tripguide). Instead of moving to W. Pa, which would cost you a lot #ad
, just meet me in Tx. #ad
this weekend. I promise you will leave with more hp, totally stock of course, hehehe #ad

I am not trying to hassle anyone who has work getting in the way of more important things #ad
like a TDR rally #ad
but surely you don't work 24 hours a day? We Rammers will probably be up all hours swapping truths [never lies when talking about our Rams].

Jacob082,

Try a search on 'Walker mufflers' and you will net some great info. JD has done flow research on alot of mufflers and has said that they are some of the lowest in restriction and have good tone. With a gutted cat and a walker muffler I can guarentee you that your truck will sound like more like a 'Big Rig' than not. And, in some cases (EZ94) like a DC-10. #ad
