Tire shop advise

this has probally been mentioned before. but this product sure works good on our big trailer tow mirrors, & other truck plastics. here in buggy florida, it keeps the mirror fronts shiney, & easy to wipe the bugs off. I bought it for a sea eagle paddleski 435 that my wife, & I took to sugar loaf key, & had a ball with, not for serious kayakers, but fun to fish & paddle around on. I,m just a buyer of these products, & admire stuff that actually work. pat

That's a neat idea. I've just recently bought some & had only been using it for the interior & exterior rubber trim/door handles. Definitely give it a try next time I wash the truck.

How do you apply it tho? I've been spraying it on a clean paper towel or foam brush & applying it in that way since that limits overspray/waste.

Gents:

303 is truly wonderful stuff! I use it on plastic parts on my truck, car, RV, boat, garden tractor, etc. It's great for tires, you name it!

The cheapest place I've found to buy it is Camping World.

Marine supply stores will also probably carry it. I got mine thru West Marine a marine supply store that also has a website: westmarine.com

I've been using 303 for years on drytop gaskets (whitewater paddling jacket). Lately, I've been thinking of using it on the truck too. Tell me, what is the best way to clean exterior black plastic parts before applying the 303? My door handles and such look chalky. I tried Mothers 'Back to Black' last year and I think it made it look worse.

I've never taken any special cleaning steps on other vehicles I've had, just applied the protectant (Armorall at the time) after a wash (& dry, obviously).

Good luck.

I will agree that 303 is a great product. Camping World was the best price I could find also. Summit Racing sells it as well.

Clinton don't :D at this but it works. Get some peanut butter(creamy) and it will take it off. I read this over on a VW site under detailing so I try-ed it and it works. I got a little carried away with wax in the past and got some on the black door handles and tailgate before and it was very easy to get off. That detail kit I got with my truck I decided to use it. Glass cleaner was good, wax or whatever they call it put a good shine on but I got some on my door handles and molding and after a while they had a white haze on them-peanut butter took it off. I don't have that problem anymore cause I used Klasse on it. This is the best stuff I have ever used and lasts a lot longer than the others. I have been using it on all my vehicles for a few years. You can get it at

http://www.carcareonline.com/

http://www.autodetail.com/

http://www.properautocare.com/

http://www.motorhead.net/

http://www.tacsar.com

take your pick on the price. I even think Klasse has a website.

Just do a search on the internet and you will find all about Klasse.

I've been using 303 Protectant for over 15 years. It works better than anything else I've used before or tried since!

In the last five years or so I've been purchasing 303 at Camping World.

I especially like it for cleaning/conditioning of my fly lines... especially my custom made hybrid Steelhead fly lines! It helps in the shooting distances immensely!

That chalky residue is likely wax buildup and can easily be removed by mixing a few ounces of warm water with a few drops of "Dawn" dishwashing liquid. Then using an old toothbrush (or momma's if she ain't watchin' :D ) scrub the black plastic parts thoroughly.

Allow then to dry and then apply the 303. If your plastic parts have never been treated and soak up the 303 readily, reapply another coat in a few minutes. Keep reapplying until after 5 minutes a liquid residue remain. Wipe this off and voila!, your plastic will look like new.

Hope this helps!

Well now...

that surely isn't any place around here! You must have mistakenly thought of JR2 living in Alaska.

That reminds me of one of the dumbest things I've ever said...

Jon had announced that he was going fishing for a week or so last year... and I subsequently wished him the best of luck!

Indeed! ( ) I still shake my head when I think of that every once in awhile. :D

Bill, if you saw me you'd know I need all the help (and advantage) I could muster up. :D

As far as the black plastic parts go...

I have to give credit where credit is due. And that would be to Tom (aka Briar Hopper). He suggested the use of Meguiars (High Gloss) Endurance for the tires. I found that it worked so well on the tires, and being one to never leave anything alone, I decided to try it on the plastic parts on my Ram. It worked fantastic on my Power Vision mirror heads, the door handles, the tailgate handle etc.

Thanks Tom, you have made me look good more times than you will probably ever know! :)

But did ya ever try it on the tires?

WC=9 :-laf

Yes Bob...

I tried it on the tires (funny boy). I use the 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tires most of the time, and Meguiars Endurance when it counts! ( :D )

*Note to self Do NOT spray rhinoliner with 303 aerospace protectant when

A: In hard soled workboots ,

B: in your slightly inclined driveway ,

C: when EVERY neighbor just happens to be outside and looking in your general direction when you bounce off the tailgate , gate cable , and eventually wind up on the driveway in a disfigured heap holding a bottle of 303 with a rediculous grin.
