Doc,

The BFG 315 AT's are a D rated tire. Load rating is not enough for our trucks. I had a set on my truck and they allowed it to have the Death Wobble. I have reciently changed to Goodyear 37" MT/R's and love them. No death wobble even at 25 psi on the hwy. Make sure you get a good set of E rated tires.

As for the rubbing, I had a 2" spacer on my truck with the 35's and had no rubbing. With the 37's I am running T. Rex and it barely rubs on a lock to lock in reverse. As for the springs sagging and making it rub more, When the spring sags, the suspension compresses and moves the whole axle to the front, forward, away from the fender. So the sagging spring theory is bunk!

I had 315s on my truck for 2500 miles no problems no DW, I doubt the DW has anything to do with the load range rating of the tire, it could be the size of the tire or the leveling kit that alters the geometry of the trucks. If anyone is looking for 315s ,the local Hummer dealer was selling them for $100 for tire and wheel and $50 for just the tires, don't know of they will ship or not. www.norwoodhummer.com

i believe the dw comes from altering the front geometry ...

there are three trucks in the town i live in with 35's on stock frontends with no wobble

two with leveling kits and wobble ...

i know it's an awfull small test group

Funny thing is I only had death wobble with the BFG's. When I was a dually ( same truck) I had the 235 85 17 tires and no DW. That was with a 2" leveler. Now I have the Goodyears and no DW. Most of the trucks with the DW are running 315's. You can say it isn't the load range but if you put 4800 lbs on two bfg's you will have poor results.

TDR member Yo Hoot had hummer rims and 35's for months ... no shaky shaky

put on a leveling kit and soon developed a dw

he posted on here about it not too long ago

it's amazing that all those stock h2's don't have the death wobble if it's just the tires

you're worried about putting 4800 on two bfgs?

the 315's are rated at 3195 each ... exactly what the original BFG's were

They are the stock tires on the H2s and the dealerships take them off and do custom wheel/tire packages for their customers. 20 inch rims etc.

I am not saying its only with the 315's... but some folks have had DW on brand new trucks with only 3 miles on them... so its not ONLY with 315's... but it seems like 90% of the people I talk to with DW are running the 315 from BFG. When my BFG's were new they did not have problems... just now with 30K on them. Getting the MTR 37" tires next... go big
