"Alloy" is a generic word used to describe any wheel that's not steel. It's usually aluminum of one type or another, but the word itself has no more meaning than the word "mag" used to mean in describing wheels. There were lots of "mag wheels" but only the best, most expensive were really made of magnesium.

You could open the hole enough to get it to fit, but don't the balancer machines use the center hole to mount and spin the wheel? If so, and it's a hand grinder job, you might as well run 'em without balancing or you will have to find a shop that can balance them on the truck. (Anybody still do that? I remember doing that in high school once)

I agree, I don't think I would want to open it up by hand with a grinder. I think it would be important to have the hole precision cut. JMHO

I would do this in a heartbeat if I was guaranteed that there was still say 80% tread left. 315 70 r17 BFG's are 170 each. The one thing I want to know is if you install the rims with the 315's, do they rub on the control arms at full lock. Anyone know. Can anyone post that question to the gentleman on DTR.

This entire package looks like a great deal. If someone could find a precision CNC shop to cut these, I would be a buyer.

Anybody know of such a shop in the Northwest?

this would be a great fix to my problem:

i need one aluminum wheel, but shops want 150 for it...

is there a down side to the modified H2 wheel??

cause $150 is a KILLER price

Assuming you like the looks of the H2 wheels, the downside I can think of is that machining the inside hole bigger will cut through the protective clear coat that I assume the wheels have. It will probably start corroding and peeling if that aluminum is left uncoated.

You also may or may not be affecting the strength of the wheel - who can say for sure?

$370 for 4 tires and $185 for 4 rims to my door:D It's so tempting to get the tires. My 03 only has 3200 miles on the Michelin's and from what I've read on here they should last to about 50k. Anybody want to buy 4 good Michelin's for $370 :D

when i went with the 315's for my 04, my tire shop gave me $110 [cdn] a piece for all 5 of my $hitty michelins that came with my truck [i had about 300km on them when i swapped]

Does anyone know if the 315's on stock 17 inch 3rd gen fit on my 2nd gen. I have been told the wheels will fit but will that much rubber fit without rubbing anything?

I just put them on my 94 about an hour ago. They really do fill up the wheel wells. I turned the truck around and I get some rubbing on the lower control arms when turned all the way. I'm gona drive it tomorrow to get my new set mounted to my H2 wheels for the 03.
