I can see how the 3200 gov. spring would work good for the manual trans, but how does it work with the auto? If i put mine in drive and put the pedal to the floor it will shift gears long before rpm's would come up that far unless i manually shift the automatic. Also i have been reading that you should return the full fuel screw to stock position before installing spring, is it because the spring changes the idle speed? Does anyone have any other comments about the spring that would help me make up my mind whether i should install the spring? Thank -you.

First off if your transmission is shifting to soon you need to have a shop that knows your transmission adjust it so it shifts at the correct place you want it to shift. It can be done. The detent cable will also need adjusting.

As for the full fuel screw. You have to back it out to avoid maxing out the ETG and to prevent the truck from doing a full blow run on.

Don't worry turning the full screw out will have nothing to do with the amount of power going to the back wheels.

I would turn the full fuel screw atleast 3-4 turns out before starting the truck. Adjust the idle and take it for a test drive.

If it don't bring a smile to your face there is not much hope for you.

If your EGT's are kept tame turn the pump up 1/2 turn at a time till your truck is happy.

My transmission shifts at 2500 rpm at wot which is perfect for the stock spring, but i will probably have to increase this to about 3000 rpm for the 3200 spring. Does that sound about right?

To this date, I have left both transmissions the same as the factory settings, even with the modified injection pump and throttle links etc.

I simply have not messed with the shift points. It works great IMHO. However, if some transmission guru was to drive my truck(s) he may suggest doing something. I honesly don't know what it should do (shift point). Like I said, things work great for me.

I'll tell you this much. If I would push the loud peddle to the floor from a stand still, the transmission will shift 234 just that fast. I mean REAL quick.

When I drive normal like, it shifts just like any transmission would.

No, increasing the shift point is not what you want. That will actually slow down acceleration times across the board.

Unless you radically alter the power curve the stock shift points are fine. You want to get into high gear as fast as possible and at the lowest rpm possible to use the available TQ. Spinning more rev's impacts the HP not the TQ and in this case allows full fueling earlier and longer.

What helps more than anything is a better converter that slows down the rpm rise and transfers more power iinstead of wasting it in the fluid connection.

Yes. A good tc. I don't have one... ...

My transmission temp comes up rapidly when I lay it down. My temp gauge (sensor) is in the line, not the oil pan.

the 3200 spring with an auto works GREAT! Oo. When I'm playing around I usually take the transmission out of OD just to help " preserve" things. ;) With the 3200 spring I can hit over 90 MPH out of overdrive. Have not pushed the truck in OD to see what the top end is like.

It makes the truck run completly different, keeps pulling longer before the fuel starts to fall off. :)
