Have any of you figured out a way to mount a 35" tire in the spare mount location beneath the bed? Just trying to free up some space in the bed.

thanks,

james

I have a 315/70/17" BFG A/T in the stock location. It's a bit tight but works and is close to the size of my 35" M/T's.

If I'm not mistaken, the 315's are roughly 34" tall and I can see where they would fit pretty snug with a little help. I'm currently running Mastercraft Courser CT's and I guess I got my money's worth because they measure approximately 35. 25" tall (when they were new). I have a spare BFG 315 and a Courcer 35" but cannot make either one fit. Guess I'll try the 315 again and use a little more convincing.

thanks

I'll take a pic if I remember.

I had no problem fitting a 315 bfg, even with a Mag hy-tec cover. Just no way with 3. 0 king piggy backs and a 37" toyo. :-laf

i had to put my spare in a Yakima roof basket(has a locking tire mount) on top of my canopy cause of a no fit,it was a little to close to my "Coolduals" as well. I like the look cause i also mounted 4 8inch Procomp lights in front of the basket too. I can just fit in the garage with about 3 inches to spare with and 8ft door with the Kore Recon series lift---DW

I fit a 315 BFG by pulling it backwards with a ratcheting tie strap, that goes from a hole in the wheel to one of the 2 safety chain holes in the hitch.

Stock diff. cover.

i had a 35x12. 50x17 Toyo MT on H2 wheel under the bed and it fit snug. it did rub on my stock diff cover though when suspension was conpressed. now i have two 35's in a dual tire rack in place of my tailgate.

Have Toyo 35 R 17 on stock wheel in spare tire location. Need to wiggle tire to get it in.
That's good news as I've got a Toyo 35-12. 50. 17(half worn) coming as a spare. It'll go on my spare rim. I keep hoping Toyo will release an AT,"E" rated 35" tire. I really don't need the MT,but I'm inclined to go with them for their strength and quality.

I had the same issue with my exhaust being in the way, so I mounted mine in the bed. Reason I chose this configuration is that it gave me the most space in the bed.

This is a picture of my 315 mounted in the spare location. A little tugging to get past the diff. My 315 measured 34. 4", with stock exhaust a 35" should fit the same.

O great now I am going to have to take a pic of my Baja proven dual 37" Baja Mike design able to use my bed mount :-laf

I like the tailgate carrier and bed mount, however, I have a shortbed w/tool box and cannot afford to do without; also, I'm in and out of the bed daily so the carrier may not be the route.

Jvolpe, looks like the only problem I should be facing is the exhaust. Maybe I can shorten the exhaust and route in front of the tire vs. behind the differential.

Appreciate all the feedback, james

I also put a 35x12. 50x17 on a stock rim and fit it in the spare location. No problem. Just have someone else crank it up as you wiggle it in.

I would just try it and see if your 5" exhaust is in the way. Depending on how it is ran, it may or may not be too close. On mine there was actually quite a bit of room between the tire and exhaust. More than it looks like in the picture.

The exhaust is definitely in the way and will have to be routed differently. By the way, have you had to remove the spare since installing it, and if so, did you encounter any difficulties?

It was removed a few times for rotating and took it off for the track. Like stated just a little tugging when it need to go by the diff. I took it off and put it back under by myself.

I took off the 315s about a year ago and have BFG 285s on Power Wagon wheels now.
