Hmmm. Too many people have laughed at my new 4x4's small (stock) tires/rims. After getting stuck in the sand, I decided to upgrade, but what size is good?

I took a look at 33 and 35 inch tires at 4 wheel parts today. The 33's don't look much different than what I have now. The 35's look pretty good, tho. 35/12. 50R16. 5 M/T BFG

Will these tires fit my truck(assuming I use a leveling Kit)? I've received conflicting information. One guy told me that I would need a 4" lift to get 35 inch tires onto the truck. The guy I spoke with today said a leveling kit is sufficient. Does anyone now what is correct? Also, I would appreciate any recommendations for tires/wheels/leveling kit. The quote I just received for a set of 4 and leveling (35/12. 50 BFG M/T, Weld Super Single II's, Rancho leveling kit) was just over $3,200 (labor -- $765 -- and tax -- 209. 77 -- included). Sounds pretty pricey to me...

you should be able to clear fine with the leveling kit. I had a 3" kit and it was enough for 35x16x16. 5 boggers. I also ran bfgs without ever a rub.

also that seems like a lot of money to just put in some spacers and shocks. I think it should only take about 2. 5 hours for me.

I bought my wheels/tires form National Tire and Wheel about 4 months ago: Weld "Stone Crusher" 9. 75 x 16. 5 and the 35" BFG All Terrains. A set of 4 including mount/balance, lug nuts and shipping was $2150. Good people to deal with. BTW, no tax as they shipped from out of state. http://www.ntwonline.com

315s

KMau,

The most important part is to make sure the wheel offset is right for you truck. Also if you do a 2 1/2" leveling kit, the front end will be offset to the left 1/2" to 3/4". I bought a DT adjustable trackbar and centered my front end.

I first ran Goodyear MT/R 315s and they were great except they could not get them balanced. After about 6 months I switched to BFG A/Ts in the315s, now my truck is smooth again. See sig for suspension. BTW 33s still look small. Bomb On, Sam

I run America's Tires Pathfinder ATR 315/75R16 on stock alum wheels on my '00 2500 WITHOUT any lift. The tires rub the control arms before full steering lock but I haven't had any problem with the fender clearance. I DO NOT use my truck off-road so I haven't really had any situations where fender clearance would be an issue - I use my CJ-7 for playing around.

KMAU... If you are not planning on changing rims, BFG or any other brand 35x1250x16. 5 won't fit... your stock rims... . Save money and get something like 315x75x16 ( which is equal to a 35) . You will need a min. 2" leveling kit in front to better clear the tires.

I ran the 16. 5x9. 75 Eagle 589's with my 35 KO's for about a year with no problems. Then 3 months ago I went with the 16. 5x9. 75 Weld Typhoons and they have a little less backspacing than the Eagles and will rub. Call National Tire and Wheel and check on the backspacing difference between these 2 and get a wheel that has the same backspacing as the Eagle 589.

The first thing that you need to do before mounting the tires is trim and smooth the sharp edge on the bottom of the front fender to eliminate tire damage if they do rub.

If you're gonna run Weld wheels, I would get a 4. 5" lift to make sure you don't rub because when these KO's wear out I'm either gonna have to drop back down to 33's or get a 4. 5" lift.

35" Tires

I am running 315 on 8" centerline rims. Used the 2" daystar spacer. Tires don't rub at all.

When I was looking at tires I compared several 315's... . I found that different tires but the same size can have different heights. I picked the Durango (off brand) because they were a little taller and wider that the BFG's.

Yesterday I spent some time on the telephone with SKYJACKER folks. I explained to them the goals I wished to come to with my truck (31575R/16 BFG AT's) where I am currently running 28575R/16 BFG AT's with NO problems.

I wanted a leveling system that would level out my truck and not lift it, as it is high enough now. They gave me part numbers to replace the front coils with a new coils which will raise the front end 2. 5 inches (Part Number D25), and highly suggested the lower control arms (DLL 232) be replaced also. By replacing the lower control arms, this will keep the axle at the factory specifications on the caster.

All of his came to under $250. 00 from 4 Wheel Parts warehouse.

Michael

Would you have to replace both the upper and lower arms to keep with within factory specs.

Or let me see if I am thinking about this correctly. As you go up the axle is pulled back, as the axle is pulled back it is rolled counterclockwise (as looking from the drivers side). The longer lower arms will roll the axle back clockwise, right?

Is my logic off here? It sure wouldn't be the first time.

I have 305/70-16(33-12. 50) ProComp AT's. I hope you guys with 35" tires have 4. 11 gears. I have 3. 54's and 33's are a little tall for this gearing. They do look really good, much better than the factory 265's. I can't imagine anything taller with 3. 54's:eek:

I have AR 767's 16X8 with Yokohama Geolander MT's (35's) on mine. I also have 3:54's and all you need to get your acceleration back is a TST PM3:D Stock is pretty boggy but the PM will correct that. I also have National Spring custom coils on the front that are 2. 5" taller and stock and a DT trackbar to help hold the weight of my prozap bumper and warn m12000. They rub some on the inner plastic wheelwell covers (will trim them) and I'll need to trim the backs of the fenderwell. I do alot of wheeling and this is when it rubs. On the street you should be good with just a leveling kit.

Personally I would stay away from 16. 5 wheel's because they roll off the bead way too easily when you air the tires down. If ya want a picture of what my truck looks like with 35's let me know. I have a new digital camera I'm dying to use:)
