3500 Light Bar

I am thinking that I will be getting the light bar that goes on the back of the 3500's for Christmas. It has also been suggested by my always better half that she would like to see a purple light in the middle light.

I have been told that its illegal to have a purple light on the back but its ok to be on the side. .

Any of you badge carrying guys provide me with this information please...

Unless you are commercial, nobody really cares what color the lights are. I'm sure some state probably cares, but DOT inspections and scale houses are about the only ones who care.

Da' Cops Didn't Like Mine

I had my purple fender lights for about a month or two. Until one night when the shifts for our local cops changed and one of the really strict and flat out mean cops was on night shift. He hates things like... loud exhaust, neon lights period, loud stereos, SMOKE, and purple lights.

He told me to take em off with in the next couple of days and to install amber and red ones. He also said PURPLE lights were reserved for emergency viehicals and that they are a distraction to other drivers I haven't talked to any body that though my Purple lights weren't Even the other cops thought that the lights looked good

i'm don't feel qualified to give a legal answer to your question for california, as i'm a 22 year veteran cop from Texas. i can tell you that the purple light would be illegal in texas.



the main reason i wanted to post was to see if there were any other tdr cops out there, and to say hi

I have a 3500 light bar coming from illflem. . thanks for the the offer Roger.

And as far as the purple lights. . I emailed and ask DRR-24V

about this law. Hope he don't mind me sharring this information, but he is retired CHP. . And yes it did make me sad that it is illegal. . but officer they are so pretty .

According to illflem I should be getting them by UPS this week. . Now for another question, since they came off of a 3500 how do they hookup????

Also since some of you are in the trading mood. . I have a stock cam plate that I would be willing to trade for lets say a TST #11 plate. . or a 4" Jardine system. . any takers. . lol

The Rear ID Bar Kit (Mopar P/N 82401355 - and probably no longer available) included the light bar, fasteners, instructions, and a jumper harness. The jumper harness was installed by disconnecting the drivers side license lamp from the truck's harness and then attaching the license lamp and ID Bar to the jumper harness.
