I have used 3M 08880 brake cleaner on everything in the shop for years. It worked great, cleans quick and it was my favorite. They quit making it. What is your favorite brake cleaner?

I bought some CRC green can non chlorinated it smells bad and it does not clean at all. Had some diesel oil spilled on the floor i tried the crc on and it mostly smeared the oil around. Still have a can of the 08880 and it cleaned the oil spot right up easy!

So what brake cleaner do you guys use in the shop?

That's the change in the amount of the VOC allowed! And that varies by state. Everything that worked before is going by the weigh side!

I bought a case of red because it was on sale but I didn't like it at all. The green is flammable and dries/cleans quick. The red is non-flammable and stinks. There may be more red and green than just these two. Kinda weird, I got the opposite result from you, :D

We use Castle Shop Solve. You do have to let it evaporate / disperse about 15 minutes before coming near it with a torch. It’s all that our Techs want to use…they will throw rocks at CRC products..

I've also had good luck with the Super Tech products that Walmart carries. For the price of it, it does the job. Just look at the cans to make sure you get the "good" stuff! The non-chlorinated stuff doesn't seem to do the job although the fumes can get you! Just find what works the best for you. I still have small amounts of Kerosene and camp fuel (white gas) for cleaning stubborn parts. Have to use with great care as to which one to use pending where they're used! Collect the used to take to buddies farm for his burn piles. :D
