Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 3rd gear syncros

Has anyone ever changed 3rd gear syncros? I'm thinking of changing them out while I'm doing the clutch job, I'm tired of grinding and double clutching. I'm hoping that I can remove fith gear nut from the red loktite applied when fith gear came off. thanks

Yep - been there done that. The trans is actually pretty easy to rebuild just pay attention to how everything is put on the main shaft (order and direction) if you get one of the syncros in backwards like I did on 5th gear it won't want to slip into gear. I recommend spinning the shaft and rowing through the gears while it's on the bench to test it before install - I'm glad I did. I have a PDF somewhere of the service manual for the trans if you want a copy just let me know.
