I was looking at the Polks sold at Circuit City to replace my stock speakers. I looked at the 6X9's for the front door that sell for about $150, and they also have some round 6. 5" and I think some 5. 25" as well that I thought about for the rear doors. Anyone have experience with these operating off of the stock non Infinity stereo head, and will those 6. 5's fit the rear doors without moding, or do I need to stick with the 5. 25" ones?

Thanks.

5. 25's in the rear and 6x9,s in the front. 6. 5,s would fit in the front with an adapter plate, and 6. 5,s would fit in the back with some cutting and modifying. DAVE...

Check out my reader's rigs page... . major install done on mine... . hope they're helpful

BTW... you don't need an adapter plate for 6. 5 in the front... . i've got 6. 5" in the front w/ 1" tweets... take a look

Good luck

6. 5 fit in the rear with no cutting. I used Alpine spx-177R front and rear, I made a plate out of ABS for the front. Stay away from 6x9s

Thanks for the replies folks - keep them coming.

JKloppe,

why do you say stay away from 6X9's? Seems they would give better bass having more surface area. Most of the local shops also recommend the 6X9's for the fronts.

Stick with the 6x9's as they give good bass. The 6. 5s will fit right in the back. I have the Polks too and like them. Radio is standard one.

If you aren't running any subs I would stick with the 6x9,s to for the bass. But if you are running subs 6. 5 components are the way to go for musical clarity. Speakers are ment to be round. .

Blakers,

are you saying the Polk 6. 5's fit without any cutting and also do they clear the windows ok? I think the model Polk I was looking at for the rear is db650, and the fronts are db690 if memory serves me right.

Thanks.

Yes those are the ones. The fit perfectly in mine with no problem at all. I thinki I soldered the wires as Circuit City was out of the plug adapters. I had them in my 95 CTD and took them out after it got totalled and put in the new truck. Good luck.
