is anyone running a 4-4. 5 inch suspension lift on a 3500 4x4 with Interco Super swamper tires. also aftermarket rims, for larger tires. ? what are the advantages and disadvantages?

Cons= Interco tire(superswampers) are loud, wear poorly on highway, and I believe a decrease in load capacity. Not sure if that make a E ply or not.



Pros= Look great, never had any real problem with snow and/or mud, comes in bias or radials(choice is good), get people asking about your truck ALL the time(might be a con somedays) come in almost every size imagineable. Choice is still good





My Swampers that I had on my old 99 were great in the dirt, but since I do mostly pavement driving I only got about 5K-6k out of a set of on 4. so you will have to buy two more. Price adds up quick.



I got the best milage out of general muds( since you want an aggressive tire) 7-8k miles a set

Seems like the main problem with the lifting of a 3500 series truck is you decrease it's usefulness. The larger tires tend to have a lower load rating. Also it you want much larger tires the 255-85-16 you will need to have your rims widened or purchase ones that have been modified.

People that have 3500 trucks normally have them for a reason, high load carrying abilities or for hauling large loads. Getting stuff in and out of a lifted truck is much more difficult. Also lifted trucks make lossy tow vehicles. They limit you on the type of trailer you can tow, and they make it almost impossible to tow with the load level.

I would guess that it comes down to function and form vs looks and limited ability.
