The way I understand it is that the stock down tube that comes out of my turbo is 3. 5". Therefore, if I want a true 4" system, I need to replace the tube. Who makes such a part. I want to go with a stainless 4" system. Any recommendation? Who is the best company? What about the droning? Thanks.

Unless you you are adding a significant amount of power, the 4" system is not necessary. It only adds a lot more noise. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't do it.

I know I will make a lot of friends saying that! :D

I was concerned about noise level too when I planned my injector/4 inch upgrade - but the setup Rip and crew installed is nearly identical in noise level, right at the tailpipe, as compared to my OEM setup. I figure I should be slightly over the 400 HP level - so maybe I'm not high enough yet to be in the "significant power" range! :D :D

There are a number of good systems out there, but you won't find any one with better customer service than Rip. I got a good price on the Banks system & have no complaints. Like Gary, I found no significant change in sound volume in the cab. The tone did changed a little though. The most important performance effect for the 4" pipes is the control of exhaust gas temperatures under heavy load.

I like the diesel, no, I need the diesel to pull heavy loads, like my neighbors Duramax!

As you can tell from my signiture, I own a 4x4, 6 speed. I love this truck, but wish it were as quiet as a hybred. It is loud! A 4x4 sits up higher, which muffles the sounds less than an lower 2 wheel drive truck. I have the full ATP wrap system for the valve cover, exhaust manafold and pipe, turbo and oil pan. I also have the hood insulator by ATP wrap. The 6 speed is conciderable louder than the auto trans too. I did not have my guages installed before the 4 inch exhaust was installed, but I am sure that the temps are a little cooler now. I do know, however, that the exhaust is conciderably louder than before. This is not good when I leave for work at 5 in the morning, or pull out of a camp site early in the morning.

So there, I feel better now.

Can't talk, gotta go! :)
