Just finished up my replacement rocker installation:) What a job!!! Had to remove the running boards. Truck really looks tough now:cool:

I decided to take advantage of the situation and route my exhaust out the side ,just back of the passenger door. No more twists/bends over the rear axle ;) Nice & short. Also increased the system from 3. 5 to 4inch in hopes of taking advantage of the POD injectors/turbo I'll be installing shortly :D :D :D

I hadn't thought much about the fact it would increase the decibels by 60%  Oo.

Ordered my Borgeson today too!!!Oo.

Did you go 4" from the exhaust housing back, or from the bottom only? Been thinking about the same solution, but wondering about sound and soot on the downstream side.

Sound & Soot

All the more the better in my book. Had plenty of soot with tail pipe terminating at factory location. Truck is washed regular like, so no problemo:) Cut some of the factory down pipe off, installed a 3"to4" adapter then a piece of flex. I read the 4" down pipe with interest, but no time now to fabricate one. The new 4" pipe was a snap to weld up. I'm not looking to push the envelope on HP so the 4"down pipe is not a requirement .

The decibels are not something I can't live with. These engines really sound tough :D There is a new 3500 goes past the house with out a muffler every day :D My ears perk up like an Irish Setter or is it a Golden Retriever? The wife thinks I'm simply :mad:and goes  Hey! it's cheaper than a psychiatrist.

By the way, most of my soot will end up on the trailing vehicle :D ;)

where did you get your rockers from? and did you like them?, are they just under the door or do they go to the extended cab section?

Rocker R&R

It's a long short story. They were gonzo. Rest of truck great! But no rockers left. Began fabrication in June. Made four total. Two under door, two at rear of cab [extended cab]. I cut out most of the old [outer half] and set the new in. Secured the top of replacement panels and painted. Bottom portion of the panels were slipped in behind the running boards and simply hung there.

This past weekend I removed the running boards. Had the local metal shop fab me the inner half [up under the cab] out of 1/16" sheet. Two sections. One for each side. I had to cut out the remainder of old rocker. Then cut the replacement inner half to fit. Painting everything and securing it. Now I have something in which to fasten the new outer half onto, which had previously been tucked in behind the running boards. I even have that little lip on the bottom which hangs down from the bottom of the factory rocker, incorporated into my design. Looks factory. Lots of work!

Maybe a picture or two would help? I'll have it over the service pit soon to do an oil change and could snap off a few. Like [LOVE] the looks of the truck with out the running boards.
