plan b is to steal a hx-35 and edge box off a freind of mine ... he'd probably never no the difference with that big slow six speed long bed anyway:D

Nothing to forgive, Rex, :D I'm sure it's a good turbo! Will can get you any turbo you want, and then some!

I really believe in the case of most turbos for our trucks, it's a "try-it-and-see" situation for nearly everyone. No two trucks are ever alike... .

I'm on my 3rd Hx40, the first one was a Majestic-tweaked job that blew at 20 psi right after installing it, and left me & Steve St. Laurent on foot about 3 miles from Mark Chapple's garage. :D Sure was cold in Indiana that night. :D The second was a stock Hx40. The one on my truck now is one of the first PDR- Hx40's, it's lasted all this time. No reliability issues where I'm concerned. I also like the fact the 40 can be used as a top turbo in a set of twins, which equals to money saved as you step up in power.

Somebody mentioned somewhere that Borg-Warner's Schwitzer Turbo division is coming out with variable geometry turbos around 6 months from now. Even if that's true, I think twin systems will still offer a better way to go, and be cheaper than VGT's .

The KSB1 is about $500 more than a PDRHX40. I ran a PDRHX40 through the summer/fall drag racing season as well as 20,000 miles of hot footed driving around town. No complaints. The HX40 comes with a builtin waste gate which the KSB1 does not. I have been told you need to add a wastegate to the KSB1 to make it produce the most HP. Now I'm going to twins and choose to go with KSB1B and B2. Also the KSB1 can be had for a exhaust housing that will fit right in where the HX40 was for $50 more. :D

This has always been a tough one for me as a ponder b1 vs. 40... .

It's not an issues of which turbo is better for me (B1). Instead, it's which one is a better value (per $). How good is good enough? Either one would make a FINE secondary in a twins setup. Value is not just price, but what you get for the money... Is the B1 WORTH the extra money? I dunno... .

Right now i am holding off on turbo upgrades until next summer. I want to see what develops on the ball bearing/twins horizon.

Justin
