2001 QC 2500 LB 2wd 6sp truck WEIGHT?

I am installing a switch in the cab to turn on my trailer lights..... which wire do i tap into at the 6-pin connector in the bed for the lights on the trailer... .....

Look on the front of the cap on the seven pin plug on your truck and it tells you witch terminal is what. The only one a can remember is the center terminal is the backup lights. Or you can just get a test light and turn the lights on in the truck and then check the terminals with the test light.

Hope that helps.

Will it blow the stick light switch?

Like i had said earlier..... i was planning on installing a seperate switch for my 40ft gooseneck trailer running lights... if i tap into the truck light switch, will it be to much current draw and blow the truck light switch?

If you have the factory towing package, the power for the trailer wiring goes through a relay in the PDC so the load is not on the light switch. I have the factory manual for the 99 but unfortunately I can't read the electrical circuits. It looks like the wire for the clearance lights is black with a yellow stripe but not sure. You should be able to pull the cover on the trailer outlet at the rear of the truck and see what color the wire is going to #3 terminal. bg

With Factory Trailer towing, switch is fine.

I have pulled many many trailers, two at a time. One behind the other. Mostly at night (wonder why?). All lights lit and only using the factory plugin. You can count the runing lights on 20 or 24' stock trailer and then take that times two. Most of the stock trailers run four tail lights. Many times I would get back and the inside cargo lights were left on. Many of these trips would require the lights to be on for more then 12 hours at a time.

This is on a 96. Have never even blew a fuse, changed the switch, or melted any wires.

Unless you want a switch to blink at the truckers when pass, I would not bother. Just another place to develop a problem.
