Two words come to mind:

GREAT TRUCK!!!

After 1 year and 41,830 miles, my 2001 continues to give me excellent service. Only problem I have had was a minor oil drip coming from the tailshaft seal on my 6-speed. I replaced it myself, and it has remained dry for the past 10,000 miles. Other than that, I have had zero problems with the truck. Mileage is always above 20--haven't seen a tank under 20 in months. I installed DD3's about 20,000 miles ago, and I am loving the added power. The Michelin LTX tires are wearing great, probably have about 30,000 left in them. There's no brake pull at all. Brakes are excellent, hardly even worn. Brake fluid lever has not dropped a milimeter, mainly due to downshifting when slowing. I do oil changes every 10,000 miles, and do a fuel filter at the same time. Oil consumption is minimal, as well as blow-by.

I thought my '98. 5 was reliable and well built... This one is even better. I had only a few problems with the '98. 5, the biggest of which was a caved in fuel tank due to the rollover valve problem.

At this time next year, I should have close to 90,000 on my 2001, and hopefully be able to give the same report! #ad

BTW, I just figured out my daily mileage average... 114. 6! #ad

Good news, I know some people have problems with their trucks, good to hear from someone who doesn't.
Must be nice to live down in the world where you can put miles on your baby like that.

Great news Evan!

As for my 'now ancient' 2 year old 99, still running strong and no real complaints!!

Plenty of self induced problems, but nothing that running most of the time on bad dirt roads does not explain.

I have just a little over 41,000 on mine 2001, 4X4 QC, Auto that I bought last June 30th. I'll have over 50,000 the 1st year and ZERO problems! Best rig I've had - ever! Hope it lasts - drive like a new rig, and I've been in some real nasty places - I use this beast.

Great news and good post, thanks Evan ! Very encouraging for all of us ETH owners.

Great thread Evan!
I have been very happy with my '00 ETC/6spd. At 42,200 miles,it runs and drives like a dream! I had a nit-pickey seat problem, lift pump replace, and now a slave cylinder that busted(but that was my own doing). Other than that,it's been a great truck that I plan on keeping for a very long time.

I'm always amazed at how many miles some of you guys put on your trucks every year #ad
I know some use your truck for work, but I do not. For the past 5 years, I've put a whooping 10k on my truck for a year #ad

At this rate, it'll take me 4 years to put the miles Evan has in 1 year! (But I can live with that!) Evans miles are probably easier miles than my (mostly) stop and go driving.

Glad to hear it Evan. My 99 has given me very little trouble(seals:tailshaft and pinion) and I have 50,897 miles on it.

Actually John, probably not. I was stupid for letting that Amethyst truck go. I took a real gamble on getting another good one,so I'm hanging on to this one unless it gets totalled... then I'll go look for the guy that bought my Amethyst '99. #ad

Great to hear that. My new 2001. 5 ETH has only 4500miles, but I've only had it a month. But it will be tough to put more than 20K in a year on it. So far it is nothing less than fantastic.

------------------

My main reason for buying my Cummins was because I tend to drive a lot of miles, though not as much as Evan. I get sentimentally attached to stuff, meaning I'll likely hang on to it for a long time. Not only do I want to hang onto it for awhile, but I want it hold up and look good, run awesome, and drive like new several years down the road. The Dodge/Cummins combo fills the bill better than anything. After 33,000 miles of good hard use and fun, this truck has maintained its new feel and tightness very well. Not bad for over 50% of my miles running around town! I've been very happy with this truck, and happy with my decision to trade my 4x4 and go for a 2-wheelie #ad

Evan. . Glad to hear from someone that lives in their truck too! #ad

I have racked up 49,000 since June 1st. Avg 147 miles / day
Oil changes avg 6,000 to 7,500 . . Blackstone Labs says I could go longer. . Every thing looks great!

My only problems have been: gear oil leak on shift tower, Oil pressure gauge goes wacko, Rotating shift knob.

My LTX's have been great but they need replaced.

Installing Upgraded Clutch tomorrow. Old one still good - just will not hold back the Bombed Cummins.

Add to my Sig. . : PE EZ, 275's, Straight pipe exhaust, K&N. .
